MIGRATION ISSUES IN THE TIMES OF COVID-19

Made by: Adrián Esquivel Barrera

On 11th March, when I arrived in Berlin, my title to work as a doctor wasn’t

officially recognized. During the global pandemic caused by COVID-19,
something weird happened, and I couldn’t even believe it.

When the German government told all of their citizens to stay at home
because of coronavirus, I knew something really bad was happening. All of
the sudden, I received a letter from the government. I was completely
shocked about what it said on it… they knew that I had a title to work as a
doctor, so they told me that they needed a lot of doctors and if I wanted
to work on a hospital helping infected people. I’m not gonna lie, I was
kinda scared about working on a hospital because of all this things that are
happening, but I started to think that if I wanted to help people and to
have a good future, I should accept it. One week later, I started working in
a hospital, and it was actually kinda scary. When I looked at people’s faces,
I felt their fear for being in a hospital during a hard situation like this one,
and, let’s be honest, we would be in their same situation if we were them.

I’m still working at this hospital, everything is going better because

everyone is staying at home, so there isn’t that much infected people
compared to last month. One of the bosses of the hospital told me that I
was a very hard-working person and that he wanted me to keep working
at this hospital after the global pandemic. I’m really happy about this, my
familiy is going to be proud of me, and, with the money I’ll earn, I’m going
to buy them an airplane ticket for them to travel here. I want to stay close
to my family forever.
