We all know that globalization helps us to have job opportunities and economic activities that
can help our country. We all know that most of the overseas workers are Filipinos. We can see that most
of the professional and skilled worker here choose to work abroad due to higher income that they can
get from this. Globalization brought many job opportunities in the Philippines; it also offers high salary
that lure many Filipino to work outside the Philippines. The government also got many foreign investors
that can promote economic development due to its improving productivity and the growth in export.
Globalization promotes global interaction and because of this with the help of OFWs we gain more
dollars that made our currency trend higher.

My stance about this matter is even though it has its own disadvantage we can still see the
advantages that it may bring to us. I am not against this since I observed that it really helped us a lot. If
you are going to analyze our situation right now, when the pandemic started many people lost their job
and OFWs are affected by this too. When OFWs stopped working outside the country due to many
restrictions we experienced economic lost. Recently, because of the rampant cases of COVID-19, our
government halt sending Filipino workers abroad for their safety. This affects the lives of many OFWs, I
can still remember due to this problem the unemployment rate in the Philippines increases, and this is
the start where we experienced economic depression. This shows how globalization is important and
with this the Filipino workers shows one aspect of the globalization, which is global interaction, related
to economic activities.

Some of the negative impact that it may cause is having what we call “brain drain”. This term is
usually being discuss in higher level of economics which shows that the people in a specific country tend
to study and gain knowledge inside of that society just to work abroad for better income and
opportunities. Instead, the skillful workers here will work for our government they tend to choose work
outside the country and migrate there. This phenomena is one of the early effect of globalization, not
only in our country but it affect all over the world. However, even it is a disadvantage this event could
actually help us in a way. When they send money to their family of course, we will assume that the
family will exchange it to remittance center so that they can use peso because it is the currency being
used in the Philippines. The impact of remittances affects the Gross Domestic Product number as it
significantly contributing to our foreign exchange earnings.

Therefore, I conclude that globalization is not bad for us because it helps us in many varied way.
In my opinion, this is not the actual problem why we are losing many skilled professional and workers
because the true problem here is the lack of opportunity, low salary and even the qualifications here are
so high that make them look for job outside our country. Let us keep on our mind that opportunities are
everywhere and it happened that there are too many opportunities outside the Philippines. Be wise,
globalization significantly is an advantage to us.
2.reflection about global governance. What is your stance on global governace? Does the presence
political, social, economic and cultural cooperation among nation-states benefited the Philippines in

Global governance is a necessity to work internationally due to the reason that it is considered
as global scale. Based on what I understand, we cannot just use this in small scale like on your
community or daily life because it is more than that. It is a vital of world peace as it is related to solving
world-level problems. It is essential for us to obtain world peace and important for world order. As a
matter of fact, governance itself is a big word if we are going to be more comprehensive. Governance is
always associated with leading, about solving issue, being the head of a society or community; it is also
related to having power. Adding the word global makes this a broader word. Now the term global
governance can be determined as a word referring to how we solve bigger problems like public-policy
problems. This making a system rule where it can help us to manage every problem that we will
encounter especially those world-level problems.

About my stance regarding global governance, I do believe that it is a great help for everyone
around the world. We know that we have different race, culture and even government but with global
governance, we can have something that will become the mediator between countries that have
misunderstandings or problems. Actually, when I was a kid I always used to think about how the world
system goes. I also believe that when there is a problem between two countries that is the reason to
start a war that is destructive for the both side. I never thought that this global governance exist that
time and it keeps the peace and security in our world. This mediation system for conflict is great but it is
not the only job of the mediator there. Global governance can also function the markets and provide
global goods which is truly wonderful and amazing.

If you are going to ask me an example, lets take our own problem or conflict with China that
shows the importance and work of global governance on our world system. We all know the issue of
Philippines and China regarding their territory and that is the issue about Scarborough Shoal. China
keeps on insisting that it is part of their territory because it is a part of their Nine Dash Line that is why
they are keep on saying that it is in South China Sea. Philippines, our beloved country starts to make a
move because it is a useless base on claiming the island because it is very clear that based on the
recorded territory, it is inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. The Philippines brought this matter
to Tribunal Court and the result shows that it is part of West Philippine Sea. Even though the China did
not want to recognize their decision it still definitely show how global governance can help us in fixing
global problems

Now let us talk about how presence political, social, economic and cultural cooperation among
nation-states benefited the Philippines. Actually, this kind of cooperation does not just benefitting the
Philippines but all of the country participating this are being benefitted. One of the example of this is the
Philippines being a part of Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The benefit of this are it can help us
to fix different issues in our country. One of their advocacies helps us to protect our biological diversity.
It also helps us economically as it make ASEAN Economic Community as single market and production
base. Even just presenting those simple example of the benefits we can get by parting in an organization
we can see a significant evidence that shows the advantages we got from this kind of system.

Non-governmental organization that also known as NGO are playing important role on our
community. It is an organization that is formed by people that is separated from the government. These
groups work in different field but commonly they are those groups who have advocacies for social
changes and improvement on social life. This organizations are not profitable because it is formed to
give service to others.
