Footprints on the Sands of Time

Title Music

(The anchor’s voice)

Footprings on the sands of time. History is only a repertoire of

memories. The reminiscences of senior citizens who have left their footprints
on the sands of time are textbooks for the generations that follow. In this
programme we take a look at the varied contexts of their lives. It is an effort
to zoom in on their lives through their recollections. We experience it as a
single tale of human life told to us by different voices, unfolding vividly on a
vast canvas.

(Female voice 1)

I usually wake up at Half past Five in the morning. If I wake up a little

earlier, say at Five, I say prayers for some time. The first thing I do after that
is to call my sister in Chennai. Then I give a ring to a brother-in-law of mine
who is also in Chennai. He is my dead sister’s husband. Sometimes I get calls
from friends. That is how my day begins. Then the paper comes. It would
still be dark. If the voltage is poor I have to struggle to read the paper. But
somehow I manage. By the time I finish it is time for breakfast. That is how
my life goes on – from day to day.

(Male voice 1)

I love a sweat-out in the morning, jogging or walking for about five

kilometers. It is so refreshing that I feel sluggish if I miss it. Then I go for a
short swim in the pond in the compound. I can still do almost everything I
used to do before. I can still drive a scooter or a car. God has always helped
me. I pray to him everyday. I pray for me. I pray for everybody. I wish I
could live like this till I die. May God help me. It is his will.
