1.

Explain how looking into the political, societal, and cultural aspects help us
understand corruption.

Looking into the societal aspect of corruption help us as an individual to look how
big corruption is in the Philippines. The news about politics and the treatment of the
government to the community has been a problem for so many years this includes
poverty. An example of this would be bribery, the candidates of officials are giving
money to those people who are poor to make the people vote for them. The candidates
give a proposal to the community about how they can fix the problems in the
government by implementing ideas or proper proposals, but in the end, those proposals
that they want to implement wasn't given to the community.

2.Do you agree that our justice and accountability system are weak? Why?

I agree that our justice and accountability systems need improvement. An

impartial judge, for example, would be able to make a fair judgment or consider
anything without allowing his interests or other circumstances to influence his decision.
However, based on what I have seen on the news, corrupt officials that are being taken
to trial don't seem to be convicted easily. It is frequently asserted that laws are only for
the wealthy. If someone has a lot of money, power, or influence, he will not be
convicted. If someone steals a large sum of money, he will not be sentenced to prison.
If you steal a little, you'll end yourself in jail. Everyone will follow the rules if the courts
and law enforcement are unbiased.

3. Why is citizen participation crucial in fighting corruption?

Every citizen must be aware of our local and national government to provide
awareness not only to fellow citizens but also to our government. The community has a
bigger role to play in creating a program to fight corruption such as protests. Through
the programs implemented by the Filipinos, the government will be able to identify and
search the information presented by the Filipino people to make hold accountable the
misguided local officials.
