Page 2 The 7750 SR-e series delivers high-performance routing and an extensive range of IP applications for service provider and enterprise networks. The Nokia FP3-based 7750 SR-e scales system capacity from 400 Gb/s half duplex to 1.2 Tb/s half duplex, and is equipped with high-density Gigabit Ethernet, 10GE, 40GE, and 100GE interfaces. To ensure maximum system-up time, the 7750 SR-e series offers control plane and power redundancy, and all system components are modular and hot-swappable.
Page 3 Each 7750 SR-e unit is based on a fabric-less design and contains two Chassis Control Modules. Each CCM-e provides management, control ports, and compact flash card slots. Each 7750 SR-e unit contains two Control Processor Modules. Each CPM-e card provides System-level control, routing and processing. The CPM-e cards are fully redundant, providing timing, alarm, and management ports. The Input/Output Module or IOM-e cards support up to four MDA-e and MS-ISA2. The MDA-e cards provide physical Ethernet connectivity with Gigabit Ethernet, 10GE, and 100GE interface options and support for Optical Transport Network or OTN protocols. The Multiservice Integrated Service Adapter or MS-ISA2, provides packet buffering and packet processing within the router system processing. The MS-ISA2 fits in an MDA/ISA slot on an IOM4-e and has no external ports. Therefore, all communication passes through the IOM, making use of the network processor network complex on the host IOM for queuing and filtering functions like other MDAs and ISAs.
Page 4 The forwarding plane functions are performed by the FP3-based IOM-e card, without any involvement from the control plane. After a data packet is converted into a proprietary internal format in the MDA-e, it is processed in the IOM-e. The FP3 silicon chipset, P3 chip, in the IOM-e performs all forwarding and service functions. There are two P3 chips in the FP3 chipset. The Q3 chip delivers high-end traffic management capabilities. Once the next-hop or Egress interface for the packet is known, the packet is sent to the switch fabric. This packet is then sent to the appropriate IOM and MDA associated with the Egress interface. The Egress MDA also converts the internal format into an appropriate interface format.
Page 5 The Nokia 7750 SR-e series addresses any additional pressure on the IP service edge and the aggregation network to deliver residential, business, and mobile services. This pressure arises from changes in the communication network. It uses a mid-plane system architecture and is available in three chassis variants, the 7750 SR-3e, 7750 SR-2e, and 7750 SR 1e. The 7750 SR-e supports a full array of IP network functions and applications, including: • Broadband Network Gateway or BNG for residential subscriber management • Provider edge router for MPLS-enabled enterprise VPN, internet access, and cloud and data center interconnect services • Mobile aggregation router for 3G, LTE, LTE-A mobile backhaul applications • Security gateway for securing mobile backhaul networks • High-performance IP routing for enterprise WANs, including connectivity to the data center, internet, and branch offices

At the rear, it has two Control Processing Modules (CPM-e) providing intelligent control and processing functionality, and up to three IOM-e slots providing up to 200 Gb/s full duplex connectivity to MDA-e and MS-ISA2 modules. The IOM-e cards are hot-swappable. The rear also has a single, hot-swappable fan tray providing front-to-back system cooling and up to eight modular, hot-swappable PSUs per chassis, with redundancy in a load-sharing design for each system.
Page 10 We now take a look at some of the key components of the 7750 SR-e. The IOM-e is optimized for versatility in deploying a variety of Ethernet and IP-based services and applications. IOM-e has a 10-Core 1.3 GHz CPU providing a 200Gb/s full duplex throughput per slot, with 100Gb/s full duplex per MDA-e. IOM-e supports up to four MDA-e and MS-ISA2 modules. The programmability of the FP3 ensures that services, applications and protocols can easily adapt as standards and requirements evolve. It supports a full range of layer 2 and layer 3 services, providing performance, scalability and fully flexible configurations.
Page 11 Nokia Ethernet MDA-e variants deliver up to 100 Gb/s full duplex of throughput in a half-slot module. There is support for 4 MDA-e cards per IOM-e, providing flexible media configurations. Ethernet MDA-e cards have Gigabit Ethernet (GE), 10GE and 100GE interface options and support for Optical Transport Network (OTN) protocols. It also supports a variety of compact small form-factor pluggable or CSFP, SFP, SFP+ and C Form- factor Pluggable 2 (CFP2) optics modules for a high degree of configuration flexibility and service optimization.
Page 12 MS-ISA2 are common with the 7750 SR series (SR-12e, SR-12 and SR-7) and the SR-e series. They are resource adapters that provide specialized processing and buffering for deeper levels of integrated services and advanced applications. The cards add enhanced intelligence for value-added services without costly external service-specific appliances and extends level of networking functionality and processing capability. MS-ISA2s leverage Nokia FP3 network processing silicon to deliver up to 40 Gb/s of integrated service and application processing in a hot-swappable, half slot form factor that inserts into an IOM-e.
Page 13 The CPM-e provides intelligent control and processing functionality. It is mounted in the rear of the chassis, and offers optional 1+1 redundancy. It is hot-swappable. Redundant CPM-e’s operate in a hitless, stateful, failover mode. Central processing and memory are intentionally separated from the forwarding function on the interface modules to ensure the utmost system resiliency.
Page 14 The CCM-e provides an interface to the CPM-e. It is mounted on the front of the chassis and is hot swappable. It provides a one-to-one relationship with its associated CPM-e. For management, each CCM-e supports an RJ-45 serial console port (DCE/DTE switch), a 10/100/1000BASE (RJ-45) management interface, and an RJ-45 Optical Extension Shelf (OES). For timing and synchronization, each CCM-e has an RJ-45 BITS port and an RJ-45 Sync-E/IEEE 1588v2 port. The module is also equipped with dry contacts to support alarm inputs and outputs, using a +24 V DC internal power source. It has an internal 32 GB max, compact flash (CF) card and an external 32 GB CF card.
Page 15 The 7750 SR-e series are designed to accommodate modular, hot-swappable power supply units or PSUs. These PSUs provide universal AC or -48 V DC power, with redundancy in a load-sharing design for each system. Each system also supports a mix of AC and DC PSUs. Each PSU is rated at 1600 W when operating from DC power and high-line AC power feeds. When operating from a low-line AC power feed, the AC PSU is rated at 1000 W. A power status LED is mounted on the face plate. The power status is also available from the CLI or the Nokia NSP. The 7750 SR-e power supply units are not inter-changeable with the 7750 SR-a series.
