Learning English; Space Where Teachers and Students Acquire Knowledge

How good is it for teachers to make their own supplies for classes?

The English Language Teaching teachers (ELTteachers) have been worry about the

correct way to teach English and the process they should take to develop a second

language, therefore the way to teach have been changing each time faster, learning

is not anymore just the amount of content a person listen, or the type of information

can be memorized for a student to take a test or participation in the school.

Some authors propose the union of the content with the actions, making the students

develop skill and competencies that help them in life, contextualizing students in the

setting around them, and in the same hand, the English learning process seeks to

acquire this language as a second language, producing skillful and habilities.

The pedagogical process, the methods, and the way to teach are necessary to

achieve these objectives mentioned before, and more mentioning the famous word

‘’English is like a cake’’ which means that the manner English is shown is important

in the motivation of the students, but also is important the materials the teachers

create or adapt activities for the linguistic process of the students. This activity ought

to be prepared thinking on the particularities of each student and understanding that

they have a singular velocity to learn, that is why it is necessary that the teachers

take a significant amount of time constructing, dismantling, and reconstructing the

supplies for the English learners.

The innovation of the practice is one of the most important factors and for that

reason is necessary to develop plenty of time on it,some other important factors that

have to be considered on the activities are, the particularity of the learning process of

the students, the manner to motivate with the activities, the interest of the students,
the enjoyment of our practices and learning, and all them must be implicit in the

activity.

The knowledge depends on how meaningful, relevant, and motivating an education

can be (depends on the materials made or adapted by the teacher for the student)

students as holistic or individuals.

Tools like guides, textbooks, mini-books created by the students or proposed for the

teacher are important for them to synthesize different information as one and allow

students to understand the process where they are. the principles that must be taken

into consideration are the impact the material could have on the student, how

confident the student feels solving the material, and this part is important because

the material should not be perceived as stressful and more like an opportunity; give

the opportunity to the student to make their own investigation, express their

inferences and opinions, use the abilities (speaking, listening, reading and writing),

take into account the multiple intelligences, and give the student a feedback

opportunity in order to understand what was good and what aspects need to be

improved.

The objective of this essay is to encourage English teachers to create their own

materials or supplies thinking in the better way the student can acquire a second

language, keeping in mind the needs of the students, objectives of the process, the

content, the relevance, and the organization of the activity.

Finally, when teachers develop materials, they improve not just in the way they

create and decide what materials are good or not so good but also in the

pedagogical strategies, and the way they teach or make the students acquire

knowledge.
