Technical Presentation

What is PEX ?
• PEX pipe is created by cross linking; a chemical process
that increases the bonds between macromolecules to
form a more complex structure than regular
polyethylene.
• This greatly enhances it performance while still
retaining its excellent thermoplastic properties.
Advantages of Cross-Linking
 Increased working temperature
 Enhanced chemical resistance
 Decreased deformation rate
 Enhanced resistance to UV rays
 Enhanced resistance to shock and abrasion
 Increased working pressure
Components of PEX Pipe-in Pipe System
 PEX pipe for added protection against bacteria.
 Blue or red (Ø25 and Ø32 mm) corrugated sheath.
 Modular Manifold with End Cap and Male Manifold
for flow regulation and distribution.
 Compression fittings for connection to CP fixtures.
 Tools for cutting the pipe.
Advantages of PEX over CPVC
 Flexibility of Pipe – Decreased Labour Dependency
 Easier and quicker installation - due to fewer fittings
 Mechanical Joints therefore no welding needed.
 No concealed joints - increased safety of system
 Smoother than other piping systems
 Lower pressure drop – due to lesser fittings
 Pipe in pipe installation (replaceable and maintenance free).
 Cost comparable to CPVC
 Flow regulation possible – angle valves can be avoided and
useful in high rise structures
 No tile breakage required in case of leakage – if suitable CP
Fittings/ Flush Tanks are used
