TENSE

In English, there are three kinds of tenses.


 PRESENT TENSE
 PAST TENSE
 FUTURE TENSE
There are four kinds of each tense.
✓ INDEFINITE (SIMPLE)
✓ CONTINUOUS (IMPERFECT/PROGRESSIVE)
✓ PERFECT
✓ PERFECT CONTINUOUS (PERFECT IMPERFECT)

PRESENT
PRESENT INDEFINITE/ SIMPLE PRESENT: -
HOW TO USE:-
1) It’s used to describe regular and irregular activities in present.
STRUCTURE: -
SUB + VERB1/VERB5 + OBJ +ET.C.
EX: -
➢ He wakes up in the morning.
➢ She calls me daily.
➢ It sleeps during day.
➢ We go to the mall.
➢ I watch a film at night.
➢ You learn English.
NOTE: -
We use verb1 with I/WE/YOU/THEY/Plural noun and verb5 with
HE/SHE/IT/Singular noun.

2) It’s also used to show the surety of future adding future


denoting time.
Ex: -
➢ I see you tomorrow.
➢ She organizes a party on coming Saturday.
➢ The prime minister addresses in France next week.
➢ We move to London next year.
➢ He returns my money the day after tomorrow.
➢ We buy a new house after a week.

SIX ALTERNATIVE FORMS:-


➢ I talk to her. ➢ He calls me.
➢ I don’t talk to her. ➢ He doesn’t call me.
➢ Do I talk to her? ➢ Does he call me?
➢ Don’t I talk to her? ➢ Doesn’t he call me?
➢ Why do I talk to her? ➢ Why does he call me?
➢ Why don’t I talk to her? ➢ Why doesn’t he call me?
