Dear Diary,
I had roused up after a decent enough sleep of seven
hours, and I was not looking forward to this day. In fact, I was
not looking forward to any of the remaining days of the
lockdown. I was counting days for the lockdown to get over,
and only nine days had gone by.
I sluggishly had a bath and even slowly had my
breakfast. I was very uncertain of how to expend the rest of the
day. The atmosphere in the house was normal. By normal, I
mean chaotic. I had gotten used to it. The three floored
mansion was always noisy. My mom and aunt were always
gossiping, my uncle and my dad doing yoga, my grand mom
was talking loudly to my great grand mom. The worst of all, the
constant fights between by elder cousin brother and my cousin
sister. This is what I call normal.
I went into the living room to watch a movie of my
choice, but I was wrong. My elder brother and elder sister were
already fighting for the remote. I did not want to enter the
dispute and get myself some shouting. So, I stayed quiet. And
the next three hours I was watching Cinderella, which I
assumed was my sister’s choice and I also assumed that she
had won the fight.
It was just beyond two in the afternoon and I had
lunch. After having lunch, I realized that tomorrow was my
brother’s birthday. I quickly searched the house for some art
materials and paper for making a card. I told mom to bake a
cake and locked myself in my room. I did not bother asking my
sister to help me prepare a card as I was well aware of her
answer which was no.
I prepared a card as it was 5 o’clock. I played cricket with
my brother, and my father for some time. Although it was not
that amusing to play cricket with only 2 people, but it was
pretty much fine. It was Navratri going on, so we sang an aarti
before dinner. Soon, it was time for dinner as I approached the
end of the day. We viewed another movie. Again, a movie not
of my taste, but on the brighter side it was better than
Cinderella. After watching the movie, I wanted to have stroll in
the backyard, while listening to some of my favorite songs. But,
even this source of happiness was take away from me by the
fact that my headphones were not charged. I went to bed early
today. I could not believe I had departed through another day
and I was unprepared for another one.
