in the Post-Covid Era

the activities better, and we hope to meet you soon!

The China-ASEAN Youth Summit is a signature event of the

Peking University School of International Studies, organized by
the Southeast Asian Society of Peking University. Held annually in
the past four years, it has successfully provided delegates from
ASEAN countries and China an opportunity to discuss on
contemporary regional issues and explore different Southeast
Asian and Chinese cultures. Through cultural and academic
exchanges, the summit has built a strong foundation for the
friendship and collaboration between Chinese and ASEAN youth.

The 5th China ASEAN Youth Summit

The theme for the 5th China-ASEAN Youth Summit is: “Envisioning a New
Future through Youth Synergy— Fresh Perspectives on China-ASEAN
Cooperation in the Post-Covid Era.” Following the outbreak of the Covid-19
pandemic, 2020 has been an unprecedented year for the world as countries
strove to manage the widespread disruptions brought by the global health
crisis. For a period of time, countries could not reap the benefits of
globalization with travel restrictions and cities placed under lockdown.

What originated from a health crisis began to involve into a global economic
crisis, amplifying underlying socio-economic problems and threats to non-
traditional security. However, amidst these uncertainties, new areas for
cooperation and the need to harness technology on the road to recovery has
become ever so important. This is evident in the focus of the 37th ASEAN
Summit, where ASEAN member states adopted the ASEAN Comprehensive
Recovery Framework, to implement a targeted and structured response to the
summit as a regional community. Placed at such an important timestamp, the
5th China-ASEAN Youth summit seeks to shed light on emerging areas of
cooperation for the region. As a platform to gather youths from different
backgrounds, the summit aims to empower youths and harness the synergy of
youth dialogue to envision a new future for China-ASEAN cooperation.

the program line-up will not change
the signature interactive and
immersive experience and delegates
will surely takeaway fresh insights on
China-ASEAN relations from this
once-in-a-lifetime experience.

forward to in the 5th China-ASEAN Youth
Summit!

1. Model ASEAN Summit

The Model ASEAN Summit is a

signature of the China-ASEAN
Youth Summit where delegates
discuss key issues in a format that
replicates real ASEAN Summits and
“The ASEAN Way” of consensus. In
each committee, delegates will
represent a country and come up
with solutions to form a cooperative
blueprint after all discussions.

features topics crucial to the post-

health technological and economic.
Through these discussion sessions, we

Are current cooperation frameworks enough to meet new needs that
have emerged following the crisis? How can different stakeholders work
together to expedite the progress of regional development? If you are
