Inner Winter
This is your menstrual phase and it starts on
the first day of bleeding. Just like winter, this
is the most inward, internal phase and energy
is at its lowest. As you bleed, you not only shed
blood, but you also shed energy of what no
longer serves you. This is a time to rest, look
inside, and be in the process of letting go. This
is also a powerful time for receiving new seeds
of ideas, revelations, and deep insight.
Inner Autumn
Just like the seasons in nature, following inner
summer, is inner Autumn, also known as the
Luteal Phase and lasting between 10 to 14
days. This time of our cycle is characterized by
a hormonal shift which brings progesterone
into the system. Energy starts to decline and
it’s the beginning of introspection. This can be
the most challenging time of the menstrual
cycle as it brings a big shift from the high-
energy, radiant summer, into what can feel a
sudden darkness and decaying. It’s autumn,
and although it can be hard to accept that
summer is over, this inner season can offer
major medicine when you learn how to work
with it. It’s time to look at your shadows as
they arise, this can be a deep time of healing.
Each phase of your menstrual cycle is a
teacher and it offers endless lessons
and opportunities. What I have shared
with you here is only a tiny peak into
each phase, as there is so much more
to each of these amazing inner seasons
that we are blessed to experience every
month, over and over again.
To start using this chart, wait for your first day of bleeding, which marks the first
day of your inner winter. On the top right corner of the chart, you will see a blank
space to fill: “Cycle started on:____”. This is where you write the date of your
first day of menstruation.
From here, you are now ready to start using the chart.
Remember, each of us has a completely unique rhythm and with time you will get
to know your own times. But to start this journey, this is how you can track which
inner season you are in:
This chart is made for you to keep track of where you are on your
cycle, and the main characteristics that come up for you with each
phase. For example, in your menstrual phase, you might write down
any physical discomfort if any, notice the quality of your blood, and
take note of your energy level as well as the main feeling associated
with this specific phase. Another example, in your inner summer, take
note of your energy level, how you feel about yourself and what desire
for engagements come up.
By taking the step to reconnecting to the wisdom of your womb you are joining a
collective of women who are reclaiming and healing our womb story not only for
ourselves but also for our ancestors AND future generations.
This is such powerful work and I am so grateful you are part of it.
