COSEC Database Restore using SQL SERVER Management Studio Express

Dear Friends,

This technical mailer will guide you to restore the COSEC database backup using SQL Server
Management Studio Express.

1. Open SQL Server Management Studio Express with “Windows Authentication”.

This mode is valid if the database is created in the same PC where it is being restored. One can
view all the databases created as shown below.

Note: One needs to download the relevant SQL Management Studio software setup, compatible
to the PC, separately from the internet. As this software is not a part of COSEC Application
suites.
2. One can also open the SQL Server Management Studio Express with “SQL Server
Authentication”.
This mode is valid if the database is created at some different PC from where it is being restored
(in the network via IP address).

One needs to enter the Login credentials created at the time of SQL Server installation.

Now, on right clicking the “Databases” option available on the left pane, one may find the option
to “Restore Database”.
On selecting the “General” tab on the left pane, one can enter the name of the database in the
field “to database”. Also to select the database backup file from the device, one has to select the
“to device” option.
On getting the new window, “Add” the backup file from the List of directories. Select the
appropriate backup file from the list and add it.
Check the file which is added and then navigate to the “options” tab available on the left pane.
Here, select the option “Overwrite the existing database” and then click on “Ok” to proceed.
