Health Education

1. How can a nurse enhance the learning of culturally diverse learners in meeting
their health goals? (80 words only).

I believe that trust is essential to initiate any formal teaching, so nurses

should be ready to learn about different cultures to establish rapport with their
patients. In that approach, nurses will gather information and learn about
patient’s cultural background to help them connect and analyze any cultural
values. With that, nurses will be aware of the patient's educational level and
learning style, allowing them to adjust their approach and formulate the best
teaching methods in meeting their health goals.

2. Discuss how can a nurse help learner of diverse culture, realize their “readiness
to learn” (100 words only)

Teaching should be a multidisciplinary team effort to help learners

from diverse cultures realize their readiness to learn. Nurses need to be
familiar with different cultures to determine the best approach that
interests the learners and help them be open to other cultures since this
prevents them from dismissing nurses' teaching. Once the learners
become open and have developed an interest, nurses should start
encouraging and guiding them to engage in the teaching—assure them
by giving feedback regarding their development and improvement. This
approach would help learners to be aware of their capabilities and
recognize their readiness to learn.
