OVERALL CAMPAIGN
MOVE-IN 2020
Tucked inside the MMove-In Guide were two hangtags: one for
students and one for parents/guests. The student hangtag
provided a QR code that pulled up a Google map with
navigational directions to their drive-through check-in location.
The parent hangtag provided a QR code that pulled up a
Google map with navigation directions to their student’s
unloading zone.
INFORMATION TENT MAPS + BANNERS

We had four Information Tents across both campuses in key locations during
Move-In. The purpose of these tents was to provide students and parents a
convenient location for to get their questions answered quickly and safely as
they moved into their space. Each Information Tent had a banner matching the
Move-In 2020 style and a map with community-specific details, including where
the Housing Office is located, bin check-out locations, building numbers and
more. Also, each map contained several QR codes to websites with information
students and parents may have had questions about, including WiFi
information, how to submit a work order, where the dining locations are on
campus and more.
WELCOME FOLDERS
When students arrived at their rooms on Move-
In Day, they found a Welcome Folder on their
desk full of helpful, community-specific
information. The origin of the Welcome Folder
stemmed from the concept of the “welcome
binder” provided in many Airbnb stays. When
you stay in an Airbnb, often times the host
leaves a binder full of helpful information about
your lodging: how to connect to WiFi, how the
TV works, dining recommendations, check-out
information, and more. We wanted to create a
similar, intentional resource for our students.
The Welcome Folders included:
“Welcome to the Nest” Newsletter
customized for their community with
Personalized information about the
Housing student and professional staff
Housing Office location and hours of
operation
RA on-call information
Code of Conduct information
Dumpster locations
A staff spotlight for an RA in that
community
A helpful Cleaning Guide
Safety information
Housing and Residence Life COVID-19
Health and Safety Guidelines
Laundry 101 Guide explaining how laundry
works in their community and how to
properly do their laundry
WiFi Support Guide, which explained how to
connect to WiFi and provided contact
information for 24/7 support staff
STUDENT MOVE-IN T-SHIRT

Housing and Residence Life wanted to welcome

students to on-campus living and provide a great way
for them to feel tied to the University by way of the
"Where Owls Live" T-shirt, which was handed out on
Move-In Day and at back-to-school events.
PARENT MOVE-IN T-SHIRT

Our parents are some of our biggest fans at KSU. We wanted

parents to be included in the fun of the Move-In Day
experience, and we did this by offering a special shirt for moms
and dads at our Move-In Marketplaces. The shirts said “From
Our Nest to the Owl Nest” and were available for purchase. A
limited quantity were given away to parents who commented
with their questions during our Move-In Facebook Live event.
STAFF MOVE-IN T-SHIRTS

We wanted our Move-In Crew to look their best on Move-In Day!

We provided our staff with two shirts to wear during Move-In.
One said “Welcome to the Nest” and complimented the
student “Where Owls Live” shirt, and the other said “Are You
Ready For It?” to create excitement around a fun Move-In Day
and on-campus experience.
VOLUNTEER MOVE-IN T-SHIRT

This year, we branded our Move-In volunteers as “Nest Builders,”

since they were responsible for helping our new owls build their
nests. We wanted our volunteers to be in bright, noticeable
shirts so were visible if a student or parent had questions or
needed assistance.
MOVE-IN EVENTS POSTER

Although social distancing efforts needed to be in effect, that

didn't stop our teams from hosting awesome virtual events to
get our students engaged and connected after moving in.
Students could win one of our "Where Owls Live" T-shirts by
participating in these back-to-school programs.
NEW RESIDENT POSTCARD

During the summer, we sent a "Welcome Postcard" to

students with a confirmed room booking on campus
to get them excited to move on campus. We invited
them to engage with us via social media to win cool
prizes before Move-In.
MOVE-IN MARKETPLACE

During Move-In, students and their parents could shop for room
essentials, grocery items or KSU gear at one of our Move-In
Marketplaces. These flyers were inside each resident's key
packet as they checked in, and the Move-In Marketplaces were
located in convenient locations inside the Housing
communities.
MOVE-IN SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

Our social media team worked hard leading up to and during

Move-In to keep our residents informed and excited about
having a one-of-a-kind Move-In experience.
