MOVE-IN 2020
Tucked inside the MMove-In Guide were two hangtags: one for
students and one for parents/guests. The student hangtag
provided a QR code that pulled up a Google map with
navigational directions to their drive-through check-in location.
The parent hangtag provided a QR code that pulled up a
Google map with navigation directions to their student’s
unloading zone.
INFORMATION TENT MAPS + BANNERS
We had four Information Tents across both campuses in key locations during
Move-In. The purpose of these tents was to provide students and parents a
convenient location for to get their questions answered quickly and safely as
they moved into their space. Each Information Tent had a banner matching the
Move-In 2020 style and a map with community-specific details, including where
the Housing Office is located, bin check-out locations, building numbers and
more. Also, each map contained several QR codes to websites with information
students and parents may have had questions about, including WiFi
information, how to submit a work order, where the dining locations are on
campus and more.
WELCOME FOLDERS
When students arrived at their rooms on Move-
In Day, they found a Welcome Folder on their
desk full of helpful, community-specific
information. The origin of the Welcome Folder
stemmed from the concept of the “welcome
binder” provided in many Airbnb stays. When
you stay in an Airbnb, often times the host
leaves a binder full of helpful information about
your lodging: how to connect to WiFi, how the
TV works, dining recommendations, check-out
information, and more. We wanted to create a
similar, intentional resource for our students.
The Welcome Folders included:
“Welcome to the Nest” Newsletter
customized for their community with
Personalized information about the
Housing student and professional staff
Housing Office location and hours of
operation
RA on-call information
Code of Conduct information
Dumpster locations
A staff spotlight for an RA in that
community
A helpful Cleaning Guide
Safety information
Housing and Residence Life COVID-19
Health and Safety Guidelines
Laundry 101 Guide explaining how laundry
works in their community and how to
properly do their laundry
WiFi Support Guide, which explained how to
connect to WiFi and provided contact
information for 24/7 support staff
STUDENT MOVE-IN T-SHIRT
During Move-In, students and their parents could shop for room
essentials, grocery items or KSU gear at one of our Move-In
Marketplaces. These flyers were inside each resident's key
packet as they checked in, and the Move-In Marketplaces were
located in convenient locations inside the Housing
communities.
