High power high voltage use scr.

SCR Generally used.

TERMINALS OF SCR:

-Anode, Cathode, Gate

OFFSET OF SCR

The trigger is 0.

From the origin O to time 1

No bias- act as off, it is influence of transistor to it will be off

Potive supply trigger to transistor 2, it will be forward bias so may influence na may on transistor 2 so
mag o’on din transistor 1

What if negative yung supply?

Reverse Bias. Off transistor 1 and 2

PAG NAKA ON SCR ALWAYS ON NA

WE REMOVE THE POWER SOURCE FROM SRC. Base in switch which can be series or parallel.

a. We place the switch across the scr . Can’t flow since it is closed. 0 V from anode to cathode
b. If you turn on the switch the voltage drop is 0 since it is parallel switch your scr.

We use battery. Switching system, transistor act as on and off

We force the current at the opposite direction

CHARACTERISTICS CURVE OF SCR

-This tells us how our device work

-SCR IS unidirectional so technically it is in quadrant 1

-Quadrant 2 break down region. SCR if off

-Breakoevr voltage of silicon – 0.3 V

Germanium – 0.7V

-forward blocking region is off in this region IG= 0

- To turn on supply we need.

1. Supply/ Source

2. Gate Trigger

-The more we put trigger the froward break over voltage becames smallest

-Switching current bring SCR to froward conduction region is ON

To off SCR use switch 2

Sinusoidal input – can create turning on of SCR depende on the cycle

-Output is hallway rectifier

-The more we vary resistance there’s an effect on RL

-SCR on 90 degrees of the cycle.

-Through R1 when SCR is on at 90degree

- We add another gate in triggering
- If positive pulse SCS is on
- A negative pulse at cathode or positive pulse at anode
- VAF>Supply
- THE CJARACTERISITICS OF SCS is Bidirectional
