2 Socio-economic Baseline Data Collection Both primary and secondary data sources are required to
inform the social baseline and profile the various indicators discussed in Section 7.3.1. Table 9 provides a
list of primary and secondary data sources that could be collected for hydropower EIAs in Nepal. The
collected data should be presented in tables, graphs, maps and written form within the social baseline
as an integral component of the EIA. The section below discusses field surveys in more detail, which are
a key technique for gathering primary data from communities affected by hydropower projects
