Using this relation as the weighting function, a weighted sensation level is proposed here for estimating the booming sensation caused by a running car's interior noise. This new psycho-acoustical ‘measure, ie, weighted sensation level, predicted well the magnitude ‘estimation and the mean score for estimating the requirement of improve- ‘ments of booming sensation. From these observations, design guidelines for booming sensation were proposed, expressed by the weighted sense- tion level ‘9638879 Low Temperature Deposition of SIC Thin Films on Plates ‘as a Hard Coating by ECR Plasma 1 Keiichiro Sano, Hiroaki Tame- ‘maki, Masaya Nomura (Su2uki Motor Corp) Yoichiro Nakanishi, Yoshi ‘ori Hatanaka (Shizuoka University Research Institue of Electronics) ‘A deposition of hard coating on automotive plastics is very important. In the present investigation, amorphous SiC films were deposited on polycarbonate (PC) and polypropylene (PP) substrates by ECR-plasma using hexamethyidisilane and hydrogen. All the depositions were per formed at room temperature. The film properties were characterized by XPS_and UV-specttoscopic measurements. In addon, the dysamic hardness of substrate surface was also evaluated. The SiC films are found to absorb UV radiation. The hardness ofthe plastic surface is observed 10 increase withthe deposition of SiC thin fil {9638888 Low Temperature Deposition of SiO, Thin Films on Plasties as a Hard Coating using TEOS/O,-plasma 3 Hiroaki Tamamaki ‘Masaya Nomura, Kelchiro Sano (Suzuki Motor Corp), Yoichito Nakan ‘shi, Yoshinori Hatanaha (Shieuoka University Research Insitute of Electonics) ‘A hand coating technique for automodve plastic is mporant, fn he present investigation, high quality SiO, films were deposited on polycr bonate (PO) and polypropylene (PP) substrates at low temperature by ‘TEOS /Oy-ECR plasma using 2 mesh, and the weatherability characters: tics of plastics deposited SiO, films were examined by a light-exposure test using a xenon ate-amp. The degradation of plas substrate was characterized by trnsmitance of visible spectrum, color difference and loss measuremens. In addition, degradated substrate surfaces wore served by SEM. It as found that the weatherabilityof plastics surface can be improved by the deposition of Si, thin film. (9638897 Development of Curved Seal Extrusion Nobubiko Todaka, Yosinori Sugimoto (Toyota Mocor Coep.), Tasikazu io (Tokai Kogyo), Kenichi Mitua (BPA), Kazunori Ueda (Toyoda Automatic Loom Works) We have developed a new production process for autombile-vindow ‘molding, named “Curved Seal Extrusion (CSE), in order to make the surface ofthe automobile smooth and reduce the production cast of the window assembly. The method involves ditetly sticking the molding ‘onto a 3D shaped window-glas, using < multhaxis robot and an ‘extruding machine, resulting in many advantages in terms of both design and production, We have established CSE mass production technology by achieving optimal robot control and accomplishing "variable speed-ex- trading”. Ulrasonic bonding splicing was also accomplished 9638908 The Development of Integrated Injection MoMling for Actua- tor Casing Takumi Yamamoto, Noro Nishikawa (Aisin Seiki Co, Lu) AAs automotive electonic systems advance, the wire hamess is the ‘main method of wiring in resin-made motor-driven actuators, with wire ‘connection labor and purchased-pars accountng forthe majority of cos [As a method of eliminating the harness, there ig method of forming the ‘conductive material on the inside, but this method leads to cost increases when thre isa comparatively large numberof wires because the required 4ic ineertion time becomes longer and automatic insertion equipment becomes necessary. The following paper reports on a high speed com- pound formation method that is able to form actuator pars with conduc tive functions and high continuous press speeds even for large numbers of 9638914 Study of Transient In-Colinder Flow with Diesel Engine ‘Takuya Kise, Tomomi Nakagawa (Mitsubishi Motors Co), Noriko ‘Yamazumi (Ryoyu Keisan Co.) ‘We have numerically analyzed In-Cylinder flow of a DI diesel engine with the commercial CFD code. After confirming the numerical results of experiments under stealy conditions we simulated the intake and com: pression proces. The results show thatthe flow pater is complex during the intake proces, but uniform swirl is performed at TDC. The mixing of fresh air and residual 2as was uniformly stratified at TDC. The mass-low through the tangential port was greater than that of the helical port, 9638923 Three-Dimensional Computation ofthe Effects of the Swirl Ratio on Soot Emissions in Direct-njection Diese! Engines Hiroshi (Ogawe, Yukio Matsui, Shuji Kimura (Nissan Motor Co., Lid.) ‘A three-dimensional computer code called TufD0KIVA,, incorporating ‘an empirical soot model and improved calculation accuracy, was applied to investigate the effects of the swiel ratio on combustion characteristics and NOx and soot emissions under various engine operating conditions in direcvinjction diesel engines. The computational resulis revealed a general approach tothe selection of the optimum swirl ratio for minimiz Ing soot emissions. Lid) ‘To reduce exhaust emissions in high-speed DI diesel engines it was reported that a high swirl ratio is equired for paral load operating conditions. This paper discusses the high swil helical intake port neces: sary 10 put this combustion concept into reality. The impulse swit! ‘method, instead ofthe pale whet (vane) method, was determined wo be appropriate for estimating the high swint ratio. To select an effective shape for the por, a parts-asemble port model was designed, and a parametric study of the helical port shape was earied out. Kaneda (Hokkatdo University, Graduate School), K. Kikuta, T. Chikahisa, Y. Hishinuma (Hokkaido University) In KIVA, whieh is one ofthe major 3-D simulation programs for iesel combustion, spray behavior is modeled by Diserete Droplet Model (DM). However the accuracy of simulation results fr spray penetration and alr entrainment into the spray es not seem to be suicient, and its necessary to optimize @ number of parameters for each specific ease ‘before obtaining reasonable results, This paper presents @ new spray ‘model, termed CSM (Continuous Spray Model). which teats spray as 3 1 jet The model was developed based on an assumption of similaity beticen gas jets and sprays, which has been suggested by experimental resulls in a few repons. Comparison was made between DDM and CSM calculation for sprays on penetration distances and velocity profiles. The results showed that CSM gave beter simlation of sprays with shorter ‘computational time than DDM. Appropriate mesh size for CSM calcula ion is also analyzed inthe paper.
