LOVE’S PLAYLIST SERIES 1: WHEN I’M 64

Back in high school Megumi Perez met Samuel Viceo in game called 7 minutes
in heaven. They met again in a park, and met again in their common friend’s
party. They became friends, and they were inseparable but, eventually they
grew apart and started taking different path.

Megumi was born and grew up in Manila but, when she’s in high school she
had to live in the province with her dad after her parent’s divorce. Adjusting is
not that hard for her as she’s good at socializing, she had friends, and a suitor.
She thought despite of leaving her hometown her high school life will still be
the best time of her life not until she was betrayed by her own bestfriend and
got bullied by her schoolmates. She wanted to go back to Manila because of
that but, it wasn’t the best time as her father and her step-mom was in a
crisis. So, she endured all the toxicity in their school. Her father seems to
notice that she’s not being herself so he gave her a week to have a vacation in
Manila where she attended a teen party with her childhood friends, and the
other teens in her mom’s subdivision. Hindi niya sukat akalain na madami na
palang member ng club sa subdivision nila, she felt so out of place. While
wandering, she entered a room where teens her age were cheering, she saw a
guy inside the closet, they were making fun of him. Iniinsulto nila ang lalaki
dahil walang gusting pumasok sa closet para makasama nito sa 7 minutes in
heaven. She rolled her eyes and whispered assholes. Hindi na dapat niya
iintindihin pa ito pero nakita niya ang sarili sa lalaki, pinagmasdan niya ito,
hindi naman kasamaan ang itsura nito, actually mas gwapo pa nga ito sa mga
lalaki na nang-iinsulto rito. She walked past through the crowd, silence had
surface, and everyone was looking at her walking towards the guy. She entered
the closet and closed it by herself. The guy looked at her in surprise. Umupo
lang sya at hindi ito pinansin. Umupo na din ang lalaki, wlang umiimik sa
kanila, rinig na rinig niya ang tawanan sa labas ng cabinet at mga bulungan
na hinimatay na daw ang lalaki. Kinausap niya ang lalaki, matalino at kengkoy
ito sumagot kaya laking pagtataka niya bakit ito inaayawan ng mga kaedad
nila. He’s handsome, and hygienic, it’s just his teeth was his only problem. She
advised him to have braces to enhance his teeth. She knows that meddling
someone else’s life is not good. When it’s almost 7 minutes and when they open
the door she gave him a kiss, para maging sampal sa mga nang-iinsulto dito.
With that she lost her first kiss and left Manila without knowing the guy. That
day Samuel promised to himself that he will never love anyone else if it wasn’t
that girl. The first time she came back again in Manila when she’s in 2 nd year
college, where she met Samuel again but, she did not recognize him. They met
again during their common friend’s party and she still doesn’t recognize him.
So, Samuel though that she doesn’t really remember him. Meg was so drunk so
is their friends, and they were nowhere to be found. He decided to take her
home where he take care of Megumi. After that they became close, they became
friends. Not just friends they became more than friends but, not lovers. They
have their secret little rendezvous that only them knew. Despite of not having a
label Samuel promised Megumi that he will be there till their hair turned gray.
He also sang and dedicated When I’m 64 to Meg, her Dad’s favorite song. It
became his and Meg’s favorite song to dance with. Everything between them is
going fine not until Meg’s first love entered. Meg became close again with Dane
that made Samuel so jealous and insecure. It made him distant, anxious, and
different that he left Megumi unread. Meg chased her and begged him but, he’s
too insecure that he forgot everything they had. After 7 years they met again,
alma niyang ang kapal nang mukha niya na umasa na ayos na sila kapag nag-
kita sila ulit alam niyang galit ito sa kaniya, pat ang mga kaibigan nila. They
met in a Reunion where he escorts his cousin, Amanda, Meg’s most hated
person. Meg was so anxious to attend this high school reunion as she had
nothing to reunite with them but, she still do to let them see what she become
now. The party was fine and her ex-classmates were like professional but,
that’s wat she thought. During the party a video of med being bullied by
Amanda was played. Meg felt rigid when she saw Amanda, then she felt lost,
betrayed, and then felt nothing after seeing Samuel holding Amanda’s arm. She
left the party withpout saying anything, Amanda tried to talked to her to tell
her that it wasn’t her behind it but, she blocked them. Samuel chased her,
that’s where she exploded and tell all the thing she wanted to tell him, how
much she resent him, and how she resent him more after seeing with Amanda.
Samuel comforted her, and take her home. After the next day Megumi’s gone
without saying anything, Samuel looked for her and started courting her for
real. And they end up together.
