PRANAYAMA

Alternate Nostril Breathing


(Nadi Shodhana)

To balance your Ida (left nostril nadis) with your Pingala (right nostril nadis).

Steps:

1. Close right nostril with your thumb. Take a fast, deep breath, and inhale in through
your left nostril.

2. Close left nostril with ring and little finger. Hold breath for just a little bit. Release
your thumb from your right nostril, then exhale through your right nostril. Your
exhale should be twice as long as your inhale. Hold breath for just enough to let air
circulate.

3. Inhale through your right nostril. Close right nostril with your thumb, hold your
breath just a little bit, then release ring and little finger off your left nostril.

4. Exhale through your left nostril. Hold the breath. (You will be at step 1 at this point
where you have your thumb on your right nostril; therefore, you will be where you are
immediately going to inhale in through your left nostril.)

REPEAT STEPS 1 - 4
