2 - DESCRIPTION

The joystick control system is composed by the following parts:

[1] Electronic joystick lever
[2] Main electronic control board (SC02)
[3] Main directional control valve pre arranged for joystick operations
[4] Servocontrols and entrance section valves

2-1
2 - DESCRIPTION

[1] ELECTRONIC JOYSTICK

The joystick, assembled on the armrest, is made of one lever moving across two axis and three enabling buttons. Moving it across the
two axis along with the pressing of one or all buttons produces the mouvement of the correspondent hydraulic section.

[2] MAIN ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOARD (SC02)

The main electronic board is placed underneath the driver’s seat into a
plastic box. Such electronic board receives the signals from the
joystick as well as from some main safety devices, (safe load
indicator, override key) and it cotrols the servocontrols as well as the
solenoid interception valve.

[3] MAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL VALVE PRE ARRANGED FOR JOYSTICK OPERATION

The main directional control valve is equipped with five sevocontrols

(solenoid valves) for the following hydraulic mouvements:

- Boom lifting / lowering

- Fork tilting fwd/bwd
- Side shifting (turret rotation for ROTO)
- Boom extending / retracting
- Auxiliaries

2-2
2 - DESCRIPTION

[4] SERVOCONTROLS AND ENTRANCE SECTION VALVES

Each servocontrol is made of two proportional solenoid valves S2, controlled by a small electronic board S3 which is driven by the
main electronic control board S4. A feedback signal from an included linear potentiometer S1 informs the system about the actual
position of the spool.

In order not to accidentally swap the two solenoids pay attention to the wires colour (upper solenoid wires are BLUE / GREEN)

JOYSTICK ELECTRONIC CENTERING AND CONTROL PROCEDURE (with red buttons)

Two checkings are possible at joystick level:

- JA, JB and JX buttons check.
- A and B potentiometers check.

Buttons check:
- Remove the 4 fixing screws and extract the joystick from its seat.
- Disconnect the 4 wires (white, red, black, blue) from the terminal.
- By using a multimeter tester on the resistence (Ohm) position check:
- open circuit between blue and black; circuit closes when pressing the “A” button.
- open circuit between blue and brown; circuit closes when pressing the “B” button.
- open circuit between blue and yellow/green; circuit closes when pressing the “X” button.

Potentiometers check:
- By using a multimeter tester on the voltage (VCC) position, verify the 8 Volt voltage between red and black.
- Make sure the joystick lever is in its center position, then: check 4 Volt (+/- 0.1 Volt ) presence between black and green, as well
as between green and red.
By moving the lever from its center position to both full strokes the voltage should vary +/- 2 Volt, (from 4 Volt to 6Volt or 2
Volt.).

POTENTIOMETER CENTERING
Potentiometer centering is done by loosening the screws (C for the A-B axis and D for the C-D axis) and rotating them around the
locking holes while the joystick is held in a central position.

JOYSTICK ELECTRONIC CENTERING AND CONTROL PROCEDURE (with green, yellow and blue buttons)

1) Check that between the brown and white-black wires there is a 12V voltage.

2) By placing the joystick lever to the centre, check (with a tester set on continuous voltage reading) that between the brown and
white-red wires and between the brown and white-blue wires there is a 4V voltage. A tolerance of +/- 0.05V is allowed. If the
detected values are different, disconnect the white-red and white-blue wires from the board and repeat the test, taking
measurements on the wires. If values do not correspond, it will be necessary to replace the joystick.

3) Check that, when moving the lever, the voltage proportionally changes until it reaches +/- 2V at its end stop (2÷6V).

TESTING OF THE POTENTIOMETER INSIDE THE SERVO-CONTROL (S1)

There is a linear potentiometer (S1) inside the hydraulic valve bank servo-control which allows the system to position the spool in
relation to proportional position of the electronic joystick.
A malfunction of this system causes an anomaly and the impossibility to adjust the electronic control system correctly.
Follow these steps to verify whether the potentiometer is working correctly:
1) Remove the plastic cover for the servo-control element to be controlled.
2) Disconnect the 4-way connector on the bottom of the board.
3) Verify the resistance values as in the following diagram, initially with the mechanical lever at rest and when operating the spool
lever.

RESISTENCE VALUES
BETWEEN TERMINALS LEVER IN CENTER POSITION LEVER AT STROKE END
B and C About 10 Kohm * About 10 Kohm
B and A About 5 Kohm** From 0 to about 10 Kohm
A and C About 5 Kohm ** From 0 to about 10 Kohm

* The absolute value for resistance may change across different potentiometers but it should not change when the lever is
activated.

** A difference of more than 10% requires the substitution of the potentiometer.

TRIMMER ADJUSTMENT

WARNING !! If not fitted screw a lever into the relevant mechanical joystick of the main directional control valve so
spool movements may been seen easier.

Each card has 5 trimmers, numbered from 1 to 5, namely:

1 Forward step
2 Forward run
3 Backward step
4 Backward run
5 Zero

There is also a green zero LZ led present.

ZERO CALIBRATION

Press a button of the CAB joystick and operate the zero

trimmer until the green led comes on.Important: the green
LED can come on at a different intensity:low or high intensity.
The LED is on when the intensity is high.
It will be noted that the LED will remain on for a certain
trimmer regulation zone: to ensure the best possible centering
regulate the trimmer at the centre of this zone.
The centering operation may also be verified by checking the
presence of 4 volts on the platform card terminal to which the
brown wire is connected that corresponds to the multidrome
in question (26,27,28,29), with joystick button pressed and
joystick in neutral position.

STEP CALIBRATION

The step is the value of the first lever movement When acting
on the cab joystick in zone near the neutral position the
movements of the lever associated in the cab do not
corresponds, while once this zone is exceeded the lever
begins to move, with a first step.
Pressing the joystick button move the same until the start of
the lever movement in the cab. Use the step trimmer to
regulate the value of the first shift of the lever itself: operate in
a clockwise sense to obtain increase in the first movement,
and clockwise for reduction.
Repeat this regulation onthe second trimmer also to regulate
the other side of the movement.

STROKE CALIBRATION

Pressing the joystick button position to limit stop position, operate the stroke trimmer to regulate the maximum point of the stroke of
the lever itself. By operating in a clockwise sense the stroke is increased, while by operating in an anti-clockwise sense reduces the
stroke.
Repeat this regulation operation on the other trimmer to regulate the other side of the movement.

ATTENUATION CARD

The machines equipped for the working platform attachment

which also mount an electronic joystick in the cab require two
different movement speeds, according to the joystick use in
the cab (faster) or equipment (slower).
The attenuation card (SC03) permits the reduction in the
movement speed of the equipment as compared to the
movement speed from the cab joystick.
Card SC03 is to be found in the electric box beneath the
driver's seat.

As can be seen from the diagram below, the four signals

coming from the joystick card pass directly to the servo-
controls, while the four signals coming from the equipment
card are attenuated by the four adjustable trimmers.

The four signals correspond to the four channels A B C D and

that is:
A) Turret rotation (or lateral translation on the Panoramic)
B) Accessories
C) Boom extraction and retraction
D) Boom ascent and descent

4-2
4 - CALIBRATION COUPLING WITH JOYSTICK IN THE CAB

CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

To calibrate the complete system it is necessary to follow the following procedure:

1) Check the centering of the cab joystick.
2) Check the centering of the platform joystick.
3) Check the four volts on the attenuation card.
4) Position the four trimmers to approx 70 % .
5) Calibrate the multidrome cards for the movements of the cab joystick.
6) Calibrate the four trimmers on the attenuation card to reduce the platform joystick speed.

PROCEDURE FOR THE CHECKING OF THE ELECTRICAL CENTERING OF THE PLATFORM JOYSTICK

To ensure the correct function of the system it is important that the two joystick potentiometers are correctly centered. Poor centering
may result in suddent movements simply on pressing the buttons or in a lack of movement on activating button JA, JB, JX.

CHECK ON EFFICIENT POTENTIOMETER FUNCTION (only for platform with red buttons Joystick)
1) Check that a 5 volt power is present between terminals 40 and 41.
2) Check that, with centrally positioned joy-stick lever, a voltage of 2.5 volts is present between terminals 43 and 41, as well as
between terminals 42 and 41; a tolerance of +/- 0,05 Volt is permitted. Should the recorded values be different centre the
potentiometer as explained in the previous paragraph.
3) Check that on moving the lever the voltage changes proportionally up to +/- 1 at limit stop (1,5 ÷ 3,5 Volt).

POTENTIOMETER CENTERING

The potentiometers may be

centered by loosening the
two screws (C on axise A-
B; D on axis C-D) and,
with the joystick lever in
central position, by rotating
the power meters using the
fixture slots.

TRIMMER REGULATION FOR THE MULTIDROME- 5 TRIMMER VERSION

IMPORTANT !! On machines fitted with electronic joystick it is necessary screw a lever onto the corresponding
mechanical joystick of the distributor to permit easier check on the movements.

Each card has 5 trimmers, numbered from 1 to 5, as follows:

1) Forward step
2) Forward run
3) Backward step
4) Backward run
5) Zero
6) There is also a green LZ zero LED present.

ZERO CALIBRATION

Press a button on the cab joystick and operate the zero

trimmer until the green zero LED comes on.Important: the
green LED may come on at different light intensity: high or
low. The LED is on when the intensity is high.

It will be noted that the LED remains on in a certain trimmer

regulationzone: to obtain the best possible centering action
regulate the trimmer at the centre of this zone.
It is possible to verify that centering has been made can also
be done by checking for the presence of 4 volt on the terminal
of the platform card to which the brown wire is attached
relating to the multidrome in question (26,27,28,29), with the
joystick button always pressed and joystick in neutral
position.

STEP CALIBRATION

The step is the value of the first lever movement. When

operating tbe cab joystick in a zone near neutral the
movements of the associated lever in the cab do not
correspond, while once this zone is exceeded the lever begins
to move, with an intial step.
Pressing the joystick button move the same until the cab lever
begins to move.Using the step trimmer regulate the value of
