Raman, I would like to introduce gyself as an young Astrologer. 1 am also a Chartered Accountant. I am a regular reader of the famous "ASTROLOGICAL MAGAZINE* besides your contemporary books which enrich my knowledge in astrology. Though | am a Rank Holder in all professional qualifications in Finance, I am keen in studying astrology and got a Diploma from KADALANGUDI ASTROLOGICAL INSTITUTE. 1 am enclosing an article on Ashtavarga, though I have given some clues besides more on quantitative information and calculations, [ think it gives more meaningful and correct prediction in Hindu Astrology. In this article I am enclosing the calculation of ashtavarga points day wise for the period 14th April 1993 to 13th April 1994 for 3 Horoscope. I dont' think these 3 tables (Table No.7,8, & 9) worth publishing. That is why I have included monthly summary ( Table No.4, 5 & 6) and Graph No.1,2 & 3 for clear understanding. Sincerely, July 2, 1993."MORE ACCURATE PREDICTION USING ASHTAVARGA The astrologers are normally making lang term prediction using Dasa Bhukthi concept and short term prediction using the present planetary movement (Gochara) based on Moon’s position. But the magnitudes of events predicted by the astrologers (whether good or bad) in most cases does not happen, for which a postmertem reason is attached for the happening or non happening which is otherwise mot diagnised. I find, most of the astrologers are not giving more importance to the ashtavarga, (a good quantitative system approved by our Rishis and scholars). Though, ashtavarga is not a perfect substitute for Gochara system,( which is based only on natal moon,) the avent for a particular period could be segregated only in twelve varieties ( 12 rasis) but due weightage should be given for respective Dasa Bhukti. I have seen, in most of the cases prediction by traditiinal astrologers, and those who write books on seasonal basis (while transit of slow moving planets), have categorized into 12 and many people have asked me, why it does not come true, though the prediction. for a particular rasi is very broadly given. In fact, I find in so many cases, even in adverse Gochara, they have shined well in life and in favourable Gochara they could not reap the good results. Not only the slow moving planet influence the person during its tenure in Particular rasi, but also, the other fast(est) planet. When ashtavarga is also taken care of while predicting for a particular period under Gochara, I feel, accurate results could be abtained for short period and even very short period ( say a week or day.) Normally, we derive prediction by taking Ascendant, Moon or Sun as base. We can also derive good prediction through, Jupiter vs ascendant, Mars vs Ascendant, Saturn vs Ascendant etc, based on the planetary position at the time of birth. This process is galled ashtavarga. ( Lagna + 7 planets } excluding Rahu and ethu. In soma books, even ashtavarga is given for rahu and ketu. ‘S$ we know Rahu like Saturn and Ketu like Mars, we can calculate the ashtavarga points as applicable for Saturn and Mars respectively. These @ (lagna + 7 planets) give benefic results, depending on their placement and other planets placement in a natal Horoscope.An attempt is being made here to explain the process of using ashtavarga with the assumption that (i) It is a good quantitative system and could be proved by all. (ii) It takes care of transit of all planets (whether slow or fast moving) (iii)Mainly it takes care of the real strength of each planets under particular rasi (whether it is good or bad?) When we analyse the total benefic places assigned to all planets in descending orders Jupiter 36 Mercury 34 Venus 52 Moon 49 sun 48 Mars 37 Saturn 39 Total 337 These planets in the specified places give benefic results only. As shown above, Jupiter is more favourable to us, than Mercury and 0 on, on the basis of ashtavarga points. But only very few persons are getting maximum of @ points in a rasi. I have seen, in most cases, Jupiter renders very good results far from their own reach in addition to its own as per gochara. Like that, even maximum point of 6 or 7 for Saturn is not common. In that case, when Saturn transit to that place, he will render good results, even though he is badly placed according to Gochara. (for example for Rishaba Rasi, when Saturn transit to Dhanus, though Astama Gani, when he gets atleast & paints, he will give very good results, and when Jupiter transit to Cancer that is third from Rishaba, when he gets seven points, he will also render good results) The following steps can be used to predict more accurately using Ashtavarga : (i) Find out the ashtavarga for each rasi (that is distributing the strength of each planets based on other planets in the natal chart) So, 84 cells will be obtained (12 rasi x 7 planets) (ii) Write all days (preferably) or weeks or months in first or last column, and other planets in other seven columns. Nbe (iif)Now fill up the position of all seven planets for a particu- lar day (week or month) in each row and respective ashtavarga points as per step (i) (iv) Total each row and find the relative strength of each and every day (week or month) based on these planet’s strength. (v) No doubt, favourable or adverse Gochara is to be considered together with the strenth of Planets as per (iv) for accurate prediction. (vid No need to say that, the total for a particular day (week or month) will be influenced by the fast(ast) planet(s). So, when the relative strength of slow moving planets are high, the period gets good total because it is constant for particular year (say). In some cases, even the fastest) planet(s) may stay in a particular rasi for 30 long due to its retrograde and/or forward motion, which may change the whole story of the native. I am giving few other clues of the uses of Ashtavarga and I would like to hear from the readers about any significant deviation from my logic if any: My Address is K Suresh M.Com A.C.A. A.C.5. Very good results could be obtained, when a planet gets @ points in a particular rasi and when it transits to that ticular rasi. (ii) When total of any rasi is more than 28 points ( max 56/2) every planets give good results when cransits/passes that rasi. (iii)When points for sun in any rasi is high, that particular month is auspicious. (iv) When moon gets more points in any rasi, that particular day is more auspicious. Better do good activities that time. (v) When Mars has high points say 4, and when it transits to that rasi, the person may make a good deal in land and building and other wealth with profit. (vi) When at a particular time, Mercury and Jupiter wherever they are, occupies the highest points rasi respectively, that person depending on his age, give birth to a child. : (viidWhen Venus occupies the highest point house, during that period, depending on his age, will inclined to go for worldly pleasure, and even to get very good ornaments far exceeding his capacity.i Ge cei? (xii (viii) Very particularily to say for Saturn, when he gets more points in any place ( means he is strong)? he will be Tendering aniy benefic results instead of malefic even though he is placed in "Dhusthana". When the highest points rasi happens to be “Upachaya Rasi (that is 3, 6, 10, or 11 from Lagna) or, its Own, Exalted or friendly house, then the benefic results will be more than normal Ashtavarga results. (In my calculation I have not assigned any weightage to these results) On the other hand, when the highest points rasi happens to be in “Abachaya Rasi" (that is 1,2,4,5,7,8,7,12 from lagna ) or its enemy or debilitated house, then the results will be ass than the normal Ashtavarga results. (Discount can be made to the above illustration, but I have not.) When any planet gets “zero” points in any rasi, and transi€ to that particular house with adverse Gochara, then the probability of death or major accident is certain. jNormally a Native will get more Ashtavarga points in 11th place from a house where more planets (excluding Rahu and Ketu but including Lagna) are situated because 11th place gives benefic results for all planets during transit. (aiii)For any given Horascape, number of houses getting more than (iv? tay? 28 points will be equal to number of houses occupied by the planets (Excluding Rahu and Ketu but including lagna) So when more number of houses are occupied by the planets, then the results are moderate only. ( presence of Mode may Se absent). On the contrary, when all 8 planets (including lagna) situated in less number of houses, then there are Lot af chances of getting more points in a single house. Very good date can be found out by this methed to purchase lottery ticket, to meet higher personallity, and to make capital decisions. When all the Yoos Karaga for a particular fative transits ta high point position; «a: very good avant liked by the native will happen. Again he has to wait for an auspicisous date. (willt is only the luck of the person, to have the ftast(est? planets as Yoga Karaga and comibination and /or taking fosition of high points rasi of these planets at appropriate time. Normally, when the slow moving planets get good points, thea total for a particular day is unaffected to that extent. When it is strong, your life for a particular period is obviously good. So we can say, all planets transit to this place have to give good results. Number of places eccupied in the Rasi chart is 5 so number of places having more than 28 points is also 5. Git When Saturn transit to Virgo,( 7 points) and 3rd from Cancer Rasi, he will render very good results to the native. Gii) Take for example Jupiter, Leo, has © points (Maximum? which is 2nd from Cancer Rasi. During 1991-92 when Jupiter was in Leo, this native has got married to a good person and has also passed some professional examination. This is under Mercury Dasa which is just commenced in July 1990. (iv) When we go through the benefic planets for Aries Lagna, ( Lagna at the time of birth) it is Jupiter, Sun and Mars and for Cancer Rasi (Natal Moon Position) it is Mars, Jupiter and Moon. As explained earlier, when these planets are strong during its transit, they will give very good results. (vw) When look into 1993-94 for this native, the relative strength of all planets are in Table @ and the daily points plotted in a graph is shown in Graph 2 for your analysis. (vi) The monthly analysis report for this native is given in Table 5. It is 2 known fact, that the cancer rasi people has now Jupiter in 3rd and Saturn in 8. As per the Gochara method all cancer rasi people has very bad time but when you analyse this horoscope with ashtavarga points as per our analysis chart (Tableé) out of 12 months 8 months are FAIR 3 months are GOOD 1 month is VERY Soop. and we can say, from 17th august 199% to 16th September 92 will be very good. (11 house from Leo where more planets are situated? and all planets has more than or equal to 5 points. (it) When Saturn transit to Gemini ( 8 points 9 and iith from Leo rasi, he will render very good results to the native. This is 100% certain. (iit) The benefic planets for Leo lagna same as rasi (lagna at the time of birth) are Mars and Jupiter. When these planets are strong during its transit they will give very good results. (iv) When look into 1995-94 for this native, the relative strength of ail planets are in Table 9 and the daily points plotted in a graph is shown in Graph 3 for your analysis.(y) The monthly analysis report for this native is given in Table 6. It is a known fact that the Leo rasi people this year is good. Jupiter ig in 2nd and Saturn is in 7th. But for this native it is of mixed results. Out of 12 months months are VERY GOOD months are GOOD months are FAIR months are PAD aun No doubt, this native had a very good life during the first two months ( 14.04.95 to 14.06.93) CONCLUSION Ge, only the planetary position at the time of birth will determine the gochara results, because, the strong planets other than moon has to determine the result of a person. In Gochara the strength of the planets at the time of birth is neglected but the ashtavarga is a linking pin concept whereby it takes birth time planetary strength and Gochara position thereby reducing the pitfalls of Gochara to a great extent. A Native will get more points in 11th place from a house where more planets (excluding Rahu and Ketu but including Lagna) are situated because i1th place will give benefic results for all planets during transit. In first illustration more planets situated in Aquarius and Sagittarius is 11th from Aquarius, 30 it got 40 points. In Illustration Il, Aries, Libra and Scorpio has 2 planets each, ith place from each gets Aquarius 52 Lea 36 and Virgo 39, In illustration III, no need to say 6 planets are in Leo, so 11 place from Leo, Gemini gets maximum of 47 points. Sa only when the combination works out, the native can get the full benefit. In my experience in this field, the combination of slow moving planets with one or two fast moving planets are good sign as given in Illustration I contrary to Illustration 3. Another point is whenever a planet transit to 11th place fram its natal position it gives good results. ( that is in our Illustration 1 if Saturn, Mars and Sun comes to Sagittarius, 11th from Aquarius with good strength it gives benefic result only). Moreover, when Moon, though benefic for a person if not strong, will give only bad results. So, We should come to a conclusion that exalted, awn and friendly occupation of planets at the time of birth will give good results and depleted, enemy occupation of planets at the time of birth will give bad results, moreover, when benefic or malefic results are indicated by planets instead of mentioning its position, then they will render it, only when they are Strong at the time of transit to a particular house.
