What essential topics do you wish had been included in the school curriculum when

you were a pupil?

Back in the day when I was a pupil, I can’t remember how I ended up in the degree I am
currently coursing or when had I first been taught about basic finances. Teachers went to great
effort to train us for future scenarios, but even their utmost wasn’t enough sometimes.

First and foremost, the ultimate goal of high-schools is to gain theorical knowledge and basic
communication skills which will secure a smoothly entrance to a university degree. However,
no sooner had I begun my first seminar, than it strike terror into my heart because I barely
knew nothing of what they were saying. No matter how hard I tried, I completely got lost of
the guiding thread. For the first time I though I would have liked to be shown how to
programme or how to do a simple reference correctly.

Not only is a lack of knowledge a weakness in our educational system, but also handling our
future finances is of the uttermost importance. My university is located in Terrassa so I decided
to move there during classes period. Not until I first received the electric bill, did I realise an
extra subject in finances while being a student was an absolute necessity. For instance,
economic skills such as how to balance income and expenses.

Finally, it came as no surprise to us to hear how unbalanced our diet is. Although parents may
be responsible of us to follow an enriched food habits during childhood, no one has ever
taught a school subject related in health and selfcare. As a result, a vast majority of our society
prepares what they think is beneficial for they health without really knowing.
