Asynchronous task for all (5/22/20)

After reading the article, Please answer the following questions:

1. In what way do you think Montessori approach encourages cooperative play among
learners in the pre-school level?

- To engage them to work with their peers. This helps them to work cooperatively and
share with others. To build their confidence, sense of humor and develop their sense of
belonging. Cooperative play also targets not only the cognitive area of the learning of
the students but also the social skills.

2. What do you think would be the advantage of teaching or forming the children’s self-
discipline?

- Students will learn self-discipline by following the ground rules enforced by the teacher
and through that, it will develop self-control, it will help them to practice and develop
“concentration” on a specific task and we as adults, facilitators, and teachers should
RESPECT children by allowing them to do and focus on their chosen activity without
interrupting them -(I remember teacher Cathy mentioned this in one of our
classes/meetings)

3. Hands-on learning is one of the primary focus of Montessori Education. Give one school
related experience or scenario that you think you were able to apply this principle on
hands- on learning.

- I teach music and we focus more on collaborative activities. However, I consider playing
musical instruments as a hands-on task for my students as they have their musical
instruments each. They have their own instruments to play in accompanying a song. Like
for example, our topic is about the different parts of a classical music. For each part we
play different instrument that produces sound which will represent a part in a classical
music- a Hand drum for the part that has loud sound and bells for a part that has soft
sound. They have their own instruments so they can focus, concentrate and prevent them
from interrupting their peers, leads them to mastery on a particular task.
