Educational Philosophy
Teaching students is a very tricky process because not every student learns the same way.
Some students are visual learns while other students are hands-on learners. I believe that teachers
should adjust their lesson plans and be able to teach students in different kinds of ways. I also
believe that it is important for the educator to be involved outside of the classroom by going to
school functions and interacting with the parents of the students at those functions. Educators
should be seen more as a mentor through life then a person teaching a student lesson. To get
students to want to trust you and to get them to do their work in class by showing them that you
are a human being also it will help them be able to see that you are just more than a teacher.
The purpose of education is to inform people what is happening in the world and what
happened in the past. By educating people on what happened in the past they can then use that
knowledge to help not repeat it. Also, I believe the purpose of education is to help make people
more well-rounded human beings. If people only learned what they needed to know for the
career that they are heading into then they will not be informed about other things that might
intertwine with their career. My role as an educator is to help inform students and teach them the
I will reach a wide diversity of children that I will have in my classroom by getting to
know and understand their cultures. I will have the students inform me on what their culture is
and if there are any traditions to that culture that I may not already be informed about. I will also
spend my personal time researching and trying to understand the different cultures of my
students because I feel like it is important to know where every student is from and to make sure
that they are comfortable in the learning environment that I create for them. I define my
community of learners by looking at each student as an individual and looking at them like they
My beliefs about how children are going to learn is that they will only want to learn the
material that they find most interesting to themselves and if they believe that they will use it in
the future. A lot of students have the mind set that if they think they will never use it then they
have no interest in learning it because they believe that it is unnecessary knowledge. But to get
students to believe that the material that they are learning is necessary I will have to help make
connection with the material that I will be teaching and the futures of my students. Students also
learn in a variety of ways for example some students are more hands-on learners while other
students may be visual learners. I believe that it is important to have a classroom that can cater to
all my students needs because it will help all of them get the most out of their education.
The way that I will balance the need of individual learners with the needs of the entire
class is to go over the work together as a class and then break the class either apart in groups,
pairs and individually to do the work by themselves and go around the room to help them. I feel
like this is a good strategy because then students can work how they feel most comfortable and I
can help them anytime that they need questions answered. My goals for my students are to have
them understand the material that was taught to them and to have them be able to recall the

information at a different time for example at their house and to be able to show and teach a
younger sibling what they learned that day in class. I feel like this is an important goal to have
my students reach because knowing that they can teach some one else the material that I taught
them it shows that they have a better understanding of what is happening in the classroom.
to be very open because I believe that it is important for everyone to know what is happening
inside of a classroom. I feel like it is also important to incorporate people that are not part of the
classroom and have them involved in what is happening. Without involving people outside of the
learning environment, you are closing your students off from meeting new people and opening
their learning opportunities. I believe that as a teacher it is important to involve everyone in the
classroom because it can help show the people what their money is really going into and how it
As a future educator my philosophy is to do what I believe is best for the students. I want
to be able to connect with the students and understand the different cultures and backgrounds. I
want to make the learning environment for my students friendly and welcoming because I want
my students to look at me as more than just their teacher because I will view them as more than
just my students. I believe that it is also important to involve more then just your students in your
classroom. I believe that it is important to involve the community, administrators and other
teachers in the classroom. Overall, I believe that there is no correct way to teach students but
there are ways that you can cater to every student and be able to teach the class.
