Viruses are infective or disease-causing microorganisms that relies on living cells of a host to
replicate. The whole viral replication process may lead to biochemical, physical, functional and
structural changes in the host cell. The type of hosts that is commonly prone to viral
accumulation ranges from animals and plants to other microorganisms such as bacteria and
archaea. Human beings are examples of a living host that most of other types of viruses
accumulates in order to reproduce or multiply. Examples of human viruses includes human
papillomavirus, encephalitis, yellow fever virus and herpes viruses. One of the human viruses
that is relevant in Philippines today is the HIV or the human immunodeficiency virus.
