Rationale
Within the last 12 units I have developed skills I thought I would not be able to
achieve and met problems I had used my own initiative to resolve and fix. From
the last 12 units, I have learnt new abilities such as a variety of camera shots,
for example a multicamera set up and the competence of multi camera editing
which had helped and developed my ideas and productions to become more
evolved and skilful.
When I started the course, I had no knowledge of a multicamera setup or how
to achieve a 3-way shot when recording before I began this course. I had an
empty mind when it came to this and especially editing. I can now say I am
confident in this department and am able to achieve these results in my
productions.
I had also learnt how to setup the Radio booths and work the station and
microphones when broadcasting. In my opinion I feel as if working around the
Radio Booth Is one of my strongest skills in the course which helped my
decision to doing a Radio show again for my upcoming production.
In my decision of picking a Radio Show for my production, I knew it was a
strong ability of mine as I am a talkative and chatty person which means I can
make my topic interesting in my own way.
In my previous unit, I faced challenges and problems such as dodgy cameras-
which led to my recordings to go from a 3-way shot to only 2 which had
resulted in me not using the multiway camera skill in my production.
With this production, I will be more organised and make sure my production
schedules have good dates and times for me to get down and be prepared to
shoot.
Project Concept
For this production, the aim is to create a radio show and online article for BBC
Radio 4’s best student journalist. With displaying journalistic potential and
finding new stories with accuracy. My own aims are to obtain many skills in
my project and to push myself out of my comfort zone and to my highest
ability. In my Radio Show, I am aiming towards creating an almost awareness
for underage drinking, in my Radio Show about alcohol- moving towards the
teenage side to it. In my research I will have to analyse the factors and
statistics for underage drinking and gather my own questions to investigate
further into this with my target audience which is directed at 16-22-year olds.
Evaluation
In conclusion to all my previous projects, I’ve gathered the knowledge of
understanding my faults and resolutions to my problems. Time keeping is a
huge part of my preparation and planning for my productions and making sure
my schedule is organised for filming and shooting. In past projects, I came to
the resolution that I am fairly poor at stacking research and analysis on top of
each other whilst keeping up.
