AUSTRIA

(1955-Present)
After the Second World War, Austria was
occupied like Germany by the USSR, USA, UK
and France. In 1955, the 2nd Austrian Republic
was formed as a democratic nation that was
banned from joining bodies such as NATO.

For most of the Cold War, Austria maintained

its neutrality. However, in a war between NATO
and the Warsaw Pact, Austria would have been
inevitably involved.

Austria as a landlocked country had no navy,

but did have an Air Force, Land Force and
reserves.
