Why Strength Finder
Based on a 40-year study of human strengths, the Gallup organization created a language of
the 34 most common talents and developed the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment to
help people discover and describe these strengths. Using the StrengthsFinder instrument
this class will help you.

StrengthsFinder 2.0 Assessment Instructions

Make sure you set aside uninterrupted time to register on the strengths website
and take the assessment. You can only take the assessment once with your
code. In total it will take approximately 45-60 minutes.

The StrengthsFinder assessment is a series of 180 items. There are 2 different

statements; one on the right side of the page and one on the left side. These are
generally not opposites. (See example question on the next slide) You will be
asked to select the side that is most descriptive of you.

There are three response options for each self-description: strongly agree, agree,
and neutral When you take the StrengthsFinder assessment, choose the item
(from the right side or left) that best describes you and indicate to what extent
they are descriptive of you. Gallup encourages you to indicate a choice on as
many items as possible. If you choose the mid-point or “neutral” option on too
many times, Gallup will not have enough data to provide you with accurate
StrengthsFinder results.

Respond with your instinctual, top-of-mind response rather than debate each
question. The assessment questions are timed, so be sure not to spend too much
time analyzing the question or it will skip that question. You’ll have 20 seconds to
respond to each item.
