(200 AD)
In around 200 AD, the first type of
woodblock printing was invented by
a man named Gong Xuanyi.

The earliest mention of a printing press
is in a lawsuit in Strasbourg in 1439
revealing construction of a press for
Johannes Gutenberg and his associates.

(1832-1834)

Joseph Antoine Plateau developed a


spindle viewer or spinning wheel called a
phenakistoscope which allowed pictures
to appear to move.

Radio
(1896)
Guglielmo Marconi started radio
broadcasting with the invention of
first wireless telegraph link.
Television
(1928)
IWRGB (then W2XB) was started as
the world's first television station. It
broadcast from the General Electric
facility in Schenectady, New York. It
was popularly known as "WGY
Television".
New Media
(Internet-1990)
The earliest forms of the Internet, such
as CompuServe, were developed in the
1960s. CompuServe was an American
online service provider, the first major
commercial one in the United States
Social Media
(Six Degrees-1997)
Six Degrees is widely considered to be the
very first social networking site. The site
launched the following year and combined
popular features such as profiles, friends
lists and school affiliations in one service.
