Government policies for entrepreneurs in Lebanon:

Abstract:

Skilled Lebanese are found all over the world succeeding in every task
and challenge and providing benefits for their environment and community.

This report contains the brief summary of the main government initiatives
taken by the Government of Lebanon to provide new opportunities for
entrepreneurs in improving their businesses and also to facilitate the
organizations set up there.

The report also contains some of the statistical data that can be used as
evidence to show the initiatives taken by the government for
entrepreneurs.

Geographical Advantages:

Lebanon is situated in a strategic geographic location at the center of


the Middle East and the junction of three continents:Africa,Europe and
Asia; Lebanon serves as the convergence point of trade and a meeting
point of variety of people the basis of uniquely diverse and rich
national culture. Therefore Lebanon represents a point of entry to a
large regional Arab Market. With a maximum corporate tax of 15%,
Lebanon’s fiscal charges are the most moderate worldwide.

In addition to free market economy based on government supported


liberalism, a safe and sophisticated banking system, a developed legal
framework, an efficient workforce and a luxurious lifestyle. Lebanon
offers a variety of investment opportunities in all sectors of Lebanese
national economy.

After sudden growth following the war, the economy has been inactive for
the past three years although the government has provided the impetus for
a series of structural and economic reforms. The initiative proposes
measures to promote investment and facilitate the assimilation of Lebanon
into the world economy.

The maintenance of financial stability and the drop in inflation are part
of the objectives of the authorities, so as to revive growth.

There are many advantages of investing in Lebanon: it is a free market


economy based on a long tradition of liberal investment policies. Free
enterprise and private initiative are the drivers of the Lebanese
economy. Moreover, there is a Liberal Financial Environment with a free
foreign exchange market, full currency convertibility policies, no
restrictions on the inward or outward movement of capital, and banking
secrecy, making Lebanon truly ideal for conducting business.
