Write an outline on how you will teach a lesson in reading and writing.

Present the steps in bullet

form. No need to write in lesson format.

 Show and discuss visual aids, or use a song to catch their attention and
have them sing the tune, allowing them to connect with the sound, letters,
and words.

 Show them a large print storybook with words and illustrations. You should
show them a photo of a cat, then point to each letter and pronounce it,
then say the entire word so they can learn how words relate.

 While you are reading, stop to show them each picture and ask what they
think will happen next.

 When you’re done, utilize the book for letter and word recognition
activities, asking individual students to point to and read specific letters and
words.

 Remember to Allow plenty of opportunities for students to analyze the

storyline – the characters, what happened, as well as how they feel about
it.

 Allow time for both guided and individual practice then Assist them in
putting letters together to form a word
