TITLE: WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

Key text: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and
not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

Introduction

 There was an article in USA Today in which adults were surveyed as to what they
“would ask a god or a supreme being if they could get a direct and immediate
answer.” The largest percentage (34%) of adults said they would as, “What is my
purpose in life?” second (19%) and third (16%) to that question were, “will I have
a life after death?” and “why do bad things happen?”

 This survey shows that a lot of people are still searching for their purpose in
life, asking about eternal life and wondering why these things are happening.

 Let us pray!!!

 Title and Keytext

 This evening, I am going to share 4 answers to the question, “What are you
doing here?”
Points:
1. God loves you so much
- In John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have
eternal life.”
- It’s hard to understand this if you’re not a parent. But the love that
parents feel for their children is possibly the deepest love one human
can have for another. If you talk to any loving parents, they probably
cannot imagine any reason why they would willingly let their
child/children die.
- But God loves you so much that He was willing to let His Son come to
earth, be mistreated, and ultimately die for your sins so that you
could become His child too. That is love that’s beyond understanding.
- When you feel unloved and unwanted by this world, your family, or
the people around you, yes, it is okay to feel broken and sad but
always think that there is a God who loved you no matter how much
you have messed up or how far you feel from Him.
- We are living in this world where people advocate SELF-LOVE. There
is nothing wrong with that, as long as it will not make you SELFISH.
2. God wants you to believe in Him.
- It is written in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God
works for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose.”
- God will never bring us to a situation we can`t win. He has a reason
why he let us experience hardships in our life. Maybe, to some, He
wants them to learn something from their mistakes and for others,
He wants them to test their faith. No human knows what is the
reason of God, but one thing is for sure, GOD WILL NEVER LEAVE
YOU NOR LET YOU DOWN DURING YOUR BATTLE. ENTRUST
EVERYTHING TO HIM AND HE WILL SURELY MAKE YOU WIN.
3. God wants you to walk with Him.
- Isaiah 40: 31 says “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and grow
weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
- This world gives us too much pressure in work, school, community
even in our household. It is tiring, right? There is always a time that
we feel drained, tired and empty. It is normal for us human but do
not let these things consume you and bring you to stress and
depression.
- Always remember that God is with you. Joshua 1:9, “Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do
not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever
you go.” WHEN YOU FEEL TIRED, STOP FOR A WHILE. WHEN YOU
FEEL DRAINED, TAKE A REST. WHEN YOU FEEL EMPTY, TALK TO GOD.
WITH GOD ON OUR SIDE, WE HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR!
4. It is your call/God called you.
- In Isaiah 6:8, It says “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I.
Send me!”
- What does it mean when God is calling you? God calls us to a life of
charity that is rooted in joy, not in duty. Serving God by serving others
and using our gifts, talents and time to make an impact to others that
will lead them to God.
- If God called you, do not hesitate to answer His call. There`s a lot of
wayward and in-need soul outside this room. Let us all do in God`s
ministry.
Conclusion:

 These are the reasons why you are here:

o God loves you

o God wants you to believe in Him.

o God wants you to walk with Him.

o It is your call/God called you.

 As we continue to serve God through our own means, let us do it whole heartedly for
we will inherit a reward from our Lord we are serving.
