History of 21st Century Literature

While reading the powerpoints, I’ve learned that 21st century literature in the
Philippines has been wildly improved over the past decades. Much of our history is
known for activism, revolutions and reformation of our society and government that
gives birth to social changes, and with that creates new roots of our literature that
came from the pre-colonial and Spanish era especially like the Marcos era,
publications and newspapers have been used to fight their oppression became the
very thing our literature blossomed.

With these changes The Filipinos progressed through its new periods of
poetry, arts, music, media, writing and other forms of literature. For me it is pleasing
to know that during this time people have been widely associated with a lot of
reforms and changes, given more outlets to publicize and tell their lives and stories,
people happily and angrily protesting their freedom and with that literature can be
something the Filipino people can have without being stopped.

The rebirth of the new society for the Philippines gained development and
gave way to nationalism carved for the next generation of writers and storytellers
that we see today. I think the 21st Century Literature is a very interesting topic to
unfold because it carries the pride of the Filipinos that I am a part of and I want to
see how how it progresses in the near future.
