The memorandum explains on how the broken family affects the child and

how deep they’ve been affected by their situation. Parents need to be keep in

touch to their child for the disciplines and advices as their child grew up. Even

though there parents give then what they needed, we can’t say that’s enough. It’s

not what they need, all they need is love and care from their parents.

Local Literature

In accordance to Tan, V. (2013), if the parents are separated, does it

affect the youth’s academic performance? When parents split up, there can be

emotional problems that youths have to deal with but in the end they try to lie and

deny it. There’s a big difference between having a healthy family versus one that

is not. Having to deal with separated parents is not an easy way to build your

childhood. Other tries to go on with their lives merrily to project that they can

handle their emotional problems.

Since other tries to deny what the feel, it would be much easier for us to

conduct questionnaires so they can let out what they fee. Somehow, seeing other

family makes other feel down and emotionally hurt, but life goes on and they

needed to strong and positive. Having a broken family has a big effect on every

juvenile either being emotional or affecting their academic performances.

Foreign Literature

Moreover, Doughty (2008) stated that it also showed that two parents are

much better than one if children are not sleeping into emotional distress, anti-

social behavior and also look to conduct disorders which result in aggressive or
3

violent way. Nowadays, the children whose parents split in this generation are

more likely developed. Children who stayed in their parents wherein being

stressed make students affect their academic performance.

As we all know being with separated parents is not an easy thing to deal

with. Parents should be aware of what could happen if one family is separated.

All we see is the bad effects of it and there’s a big chance of the child to be

affected in his or her academic performances.

Conceptual Framework

The figure on the next page presents the conceptual model which includes

the input, process and the predicted outcome implies that a continuous process

may lead to the variation of relation between the tested variables.

FRAME 1 shows the input which shows the respondents of the study, the

students with their personal profile such as name, age, gender, and block or

section this also includes the parent’s profile

FRAME 2 illustrates the steps in the conduct of the study, starting from the

distribution of the questionnaires up to the analysis and interpretation of data.

FRAME 3 demonstrate the action plan to know the affection of being into

broken family to the academic performance of STEM students.

The arrow below represents the feedback mechanism which shows the

continuous evaluation of the output considering the input and the process of the

system

Significance of the Study

School Administrators. The results of the study could serve as basis in

proposing parenting activities in the school. Administrators can devise plans

particularly on parenting styles to contribute to academic performance of pupils.

Students. The results of the study gives more knowledge to the students

about the affection being into a broken family.

Teachers. This could provide relevant data which can be used for

monitoring pupils due to their difficulties either emotionally or physically.

Future researchers. This could serve as source in preparing same study.

Family. This could serve as their guide to know how they will handle the

situation.

Parents. This would serve as their guide for them to be aware when this

kind of situation happen.
