merely the absence of. disease or infirmity” – WHO Constitution.
2. Primary Care
the initial point of contact between a patient and the healthcare
system that provides individuals with access to the information and
resources they need for optimal health outcomes.
3. Mental Health
refers to cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being. It is all
about how people think, feel, and behave. People sometimes use
the term “mental health” to mean the absence of a mental disorder.
4. Endemic
a disease that occurs in a certain place or group of people. For
example, the common cold occurs predictably among American
schoolchildren.
5. Pandemic
a disease outbreak that spans several countries and affects a large
number of people. Pandemics are most often caused by viruses,
like Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), which can easily
spread from person to person.
6. Rehabilitative
to restore to good health or useful life, as through therapy and
education.
7. Health Promotion
aim to engage and empower individuals and communities to
choose healthy behaviors, and make changes that reduce the risk
of developing chronic diseases and other morbidities
8. Health Prevention
deals with the prevention of illness to decrease the burden of
disease and associated risk factors.
9. Curative
refers to treatment and therapies provided to a patient with the main
intent of fully resolving an illness and the goal of bringing the
patient, ideally, to their status of health before the illness presented
itself.
10. Palliative Care
is a crucial part of integrated, people-centred health services
(IPCHS). Nothing is more people-centred than relieving their
suffering, be it physical, psychological, social, or spiritual.
