Visual Study
Weighting: Worth 30%

Timeframe: Seven Weeks

The Purpose:

The visual study is an exploration of, and/or experimentation with a style,


an idea, a concept, media, materials, methods, techniques and/or
technologies. Students base their exploration and/or experimentation on
analysis of the work of other practitioners, individual research, and the
development of visual thinking and/or technical skills. Students present
the findings of their visual study as well as their conclusions and insights.

Visual Study Requirements
- The visual study can be presented in a variety of forms, such as a visual diary,
folio, website, or display or digital recording supported with written or oral
information and comments. Written material should be in the form of notes,
analytical reports, a structured essay, or a combination of these.
- It should be between eight and twelve A3 pages (or equivalent) of practical
study; a digital recording should be between 3 and 4 minutes. Supporting
material should total a maximum of 750 words if written or a maximum of 5
minutes if oral, or the equivalent in multimodal form.

● 1 x Cover Page: SACE ID, Images - your own or the work of


others that are relevant to our topic
● 1 x Research and Analysis page + 2 Practical Applications
pages per artist (exploring 3 in your Visual Study) = 9
pages
● 1 x conclusion page = 10 pages
● 1 x bibliography to acknowledge information sources (does
not count towards your 10 pages)

of your visual study.
