Children, especially those that are near or at the age of attending preschool, require constant care and

supervision from adults. Many argue that specialised childcare centres would be best equipped to take
care of these children . Others however believe that family members, such as grandparents, perform a
much better job looking after their own charge. In this essay, I will analyse evidence supporting both
views and reveal my own opinion.

On the one hand, there are many convincing reasons why parents let their kids attend kindergartens.
First, it is undeniable that they provide a much more professional, standardised education and
experience to children. Employees are trained to interact in the correct manner to kindergartners, and
knowledge such as simple math or literature are relayed in a systematic method which is appropriate to
pre-schoolers. In addition, children have the ability to develop critical life skill in preschool. Those who
attend preschool would have the ability to meet peers their age and interact with them in a classroom
environment, which helps promote teamwork and other social skills, therefore paving the way for when
they attend elementary school.

On the other hand, parents the world over have valid grounds to enlist the helps of relatives in taking
care of their children. It is blatantly clear that the help of family member is free. Many people simply
haven’t enough money to send their children to kindergartens, for instance those who are unemplyed
and can’t make money. Some simply opt not to send their children to save cash. Moreover, family
members, such as grandparents, would understand the children’s need and desire best. For instance,
granny might bake her grandchildren’s favourite confectionary, while grandpa knows just what his
grandchildren favourite activities are.

In conclusion, both ways of providing care prove to have merits. In my opinion, a mix of both, that is
attending kindergarten, and being taken cared of by relatives part time, would be the most beneficial to
children.
