On the Court

The feeling I get when I lace up my shoes, scrunch down my bright white socks, smell

the scent of a new basketball, and touch the gripping leather from the ball off of the rack is

insatiable. Once I walk on to that court and wipe my shoes, all of my other worries and wonders

dissolve away. The ball gets into my hands, and once we start playing the hours just fly by as if it

was only 5 minutes. It can be as simple as a 3 on 3 tournament, to travelling all the way to

Chicago for an MBA travel basketball tournament; no matter what it is I am locked in, and that

32 minute game of 8 minute quarters, is done in an instant.

When I am playing, the only thing on my mind is our game plan- to beat the other team.

It's so mind capturing and such a good way to get away from the stresses of life because of how

much I have fallen in love with the sport. I get on the court and all the thoughts of homework,

due dates, boys or even a test just float away. The only way for someone to let go of everything

else in the world other than what they are doing, is for them to have a passionate feeling for it;

and that is exactly what it is. I have such a strong love and desire to constantly get better and

constantly want to be playing ball all year round and I do- whether it's playing outside with my

friends or family a quick game of P.I.G in the fall after golf practice, practicing with the team

during the school season, or being on an multiple AAU travel teams in the spring. Doing all

these times, it just

makes my love for the sport grow and grow and the time fly and fly. If I have a long day any day

of the 365, touching a basketball couldn’t make the time go by any quicker in the best way there

is.

When I want to improve, or get in that extra practice, I go to my favorite travel coach-

Coach McGannon. He has sculpted a big part of me on how I am the player I am today, with

improving my speed of releasing the ball, my shot, my form, and the most important piece of it

all, my confidence. Coach McGannon has made the biggest impact on me as a player and I am

forever grateful and excited for the spring seasons ahead of me. Or if I want to get in extra reps

at 5:30 in the morning, I turn to Coach Phillips, he loves the sport too and is always reachable to

help me work to become the player I want to be no matter the time of day. Lastly, my dad is the

best coach of all, he taught me everything from way back when I was a little girl like: to shoot,

how to dribble, how to play the game, I can always turn to my dad if I want to learn a little more.
