MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

BLS/BSLS or BSE with a major/specialization with four (4) years of professional experience in library/information work or in teaching
in Library Science or Information Library Science/Information Science/Management
Science/Management with 18 graduate
units in any field

TRAINING ELIGIBILITY

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

            Collection Development 


              1.  Selecting and recommending library materials/equipment for the section/unit/college
                        library
              2.  Establishing and maintaining gift/exchange linkages
              3.  Preparing/answering correspondence, requests, acknowledgments, claims, orders,
                        letters, etc.
              4.  Evaluating gifts and exchange materials received
              5.  Processing materials received
                   a.  preliminary descriptive cataloging, bibliographic searching
                   b.  processing periodicals
 
            Technical Services 
              1.  Cataloging and classification (print and non-print materials)
              2.  Indexing (print and non-print materials)
              3.  Revising indexed articles
              4.  Off-line editing
              5.  On-line editing
              6.  Assisting in the maintenance of library databases
              7.  Preparing finding aids/inventory guides of the archival collection
              8.  Inspecting processed microforms
              9.  Maintaining and preserving microforms/audio-visual materials
 
            User Education and Services 
              1.  Operating the reserved/circulation system for all types of materials
              2.  Operating the inter-library loan system
              3.  Answering bibliographic factual inquiries using reference sources
              4.  Performing reference work covering a well defined subject matter
              5.  Assisting users in the preparation of materials for instruction and research
              6.  Assisting users in the use of the card and on-line catalogs, indexes and databases
              7.  Explaining library rules and regulations
              8.  Conducting library orientation
              9.  Providing current awareness services, SDI
            10.  Gathering materials to be used by users for media production and presentation
                        purposes
 
            Stack Maintenance 
              1.  Assisting in the inventory of library materials/equipment
              2.  Assisting in weeding out/relocating library materials
 
            Archival Work 
              1.  Assisting in acquiring archives
              2.  Assisting in appraising archives

              3.  Assisting in arranging and describing archives


              4.  Assisting in conserving archives
              5.  Assisting in servicing archives
              6.  Assisting in promoting use of archives
 
            Administrative 
              1.  Implementing library policies, rules and regulations
              2.  Assisting head librarian in the supervision of the section/unit/college library
              3.  Training and orienting new staff, student assistants and practicum students
              4.  Preparing library reports
REQUIREMENTS FOR LIBRARIAN I AND COLLEGE LIBRARIAN POSITIONS::
◦ Transcript of records and/or certified true copy of grades for advanced studies
◦ Certificate of employment (if employed)
◦ Certificates of attendance for trainings/seminars attended (relevant to profession) for the last five (5) years ◦ Certificate of research,
extension, community service
◦ Certificate of awards received, distinction (Latin honors, board topnotcher, Gawad Tsanselor awardee)
◦ Certificate of appreciation as resource speaker ◦ Proof of published articles

01. Fully accomplished RSS Form (in spreadsheet file format only)
02. Application Documents merged into a single PDF file (tools for merging documents are available in the internet, please feel free to
search and use merging tool suitable for you).
Application Documents:

• Letter of application (indicate the position title, item number,  college/unit, and certifying that all attached documents are true and
correct)
• Fully accomplished Personal Data Sheet (PDS) (CS Form No. 212 Revised 2017) with signature and recent photo taken within the last six
(6) months. To help you accomplish the PDS, please read and understand the GUIDE TO FILLING OUT THE PERSONAL DATA SHEET. Any
misrepresentation made in the PDS and the Work Experience Sheet shall cause the filing of administrative/criminal case/s against
the person concerned

• Fully accomplished Work Experience Sheet with signature


• Performance Rating (a. For applicants employed in the government service, last and previous ratings are required for appointment by
promotion or transfer; b. For applicants working in private companies and/or classified as Job Orders/Contract of Service submission
of two (2) rating periods is encouraged)
• Photocopy of Certificate of Eligibility/board rating/valid license

• Photocopy of School Credentials (a. TOR & Diploma for positions requiring Graduate Studies, Bachelor's degree or 2-year studies in
College/Vocational/Trade Course; b. High School/Elementary School Diploma or Certificate from DepEd, etc. for positions requiring
completed basic education)
• Photocopy of relevant Training/Seminar Certificates; and
• Photocopy of previous and current Employment Certificates with duties & responsibilities, if applicable
Please take note of the following:

• Applicants must submit a separate set of application if applying for more than one job vacancy.
• All documents submitted shall be considered as property of UPD-HRRD Office and has the prerogative to make any actions that are
deemed appropriate.
• Application with incomplete documents shall not be considered in the list of qualified applicants.
