Leather Guitar Straps - Comfortable, Durable

and Stylish

A well-made leather guitar strap is the best option for true quality. A wide, cushioned
leather strap is the best choice for comfort.

Levy makes some of the most well-known leather straps. They are 2 1/2" to 3 1/2
inches in width. They are also padded with foam and have a combination of a boot
leather outer layer and a soft, "garment", leather inner surface.

The Levy straps, by almost all accounts, are extremely well-made and will last as long
the players use them. They also offer a boot leather and garment leather
combination. Because of their leather construction and high quality, Levy straps don't
come cheap. These straps can be purchased for anywhere between $30 and $60.

Moody Leather makes some of the most exquisite guitar straps available, and they are
also boutique-level. They are not inexpensive, and can cost anywhere from $120 to
$220. However, many musicians have chosen them as their preferred strap. Moody
Leather was created by Allison Suter. She learned how to work leather firsthand when
she made a deer-leather jacket in the F-15 fighter pilot's cockpit. It's not hard to see
Ms. Suter in marketing collateral.

Franklin Straps are a great choice if you want something more traditional and old -
fashioned. You will likely see a Franklin Strap if you close your eyes. Franklin Straps
can be beautiful pieces of art and are available in many styles. There are sculpted
latigo, suede and chrome options, as well as graphic and southwest series.

No matter what price, style or material you choose, a leather strap is the best choice
for your guitar. They are more comfortable for heavy guitars like the Les Paul or
archtops, and they last almost forever. They look great, and let's face the truth, they
are very stylish.
Best of luck and Happy Playing!
