PARAISONG UHAW

The video entitled “Paraisong Uhaw” , of I witness is the same with the crisis in my Province
Marinduque especially in Mogpog where I live. Experiencing that kind of situation is very tough
for all individuals in one community. It will be the beginning of the arguments of all the
residents living there.
I remember last year of April and May, before I came here in Pasig City, we also experienced
that kind of situation. All the water sources dried up. My father, together with his amigos, plans
to dig the ground to form a new well for all our constituents. It takes 3 to 4 days before we can
use the water and if it is a rainy day, the water in the well is useless. Before we can use it again,
we need to scoop out all the water. It takes 1 to 2 hours before it will totally clear and ready to
use. And of course, whoever scoops out all the water, he or she will be the one to use the spring
water, it maybe for her or his laundry or for bath. As a resident in our Purok, I also experienced
scooping all the water in the well or even going down to the well to make sure it is very clean. If
you are taking a bath, one bucket is for one person, for us it is enough for everyone to use it. In
terms of our drinking water, we need to go to “ilaya” where we can fetch water. But before that
we need to stay there for 5 to 8 hours or even overnight. One way for us to avoid boredom is to
go there with friends or even family and bring a lot of containers, bring food or snacks or even
bring alcohol. It is worth to wait because the next day, it is your free time.
Now, I realized that I don’t need to complain about that kind of situation, because we are not the
only ones who are affected. There are more individuals who suffer more than us. And it feels
good when we are waiting for the water because we build friendships in that kind of situation.
