WHAT DID YOU LEARN TODAY? I learned the thesis statement and paraphrasing in academic
texts. The thesis statement is short statement it is usually composed of 2-3 sentences providing
the main point of the text. It is usually appear in the introduction at end part of the text. I
learned that the thesis statements can broaden the attitude of the characters and also state
factual statement. Thesis statement also includes the message of the author/s that she/he
wants to convey in his readers. In this class I also learned how to improved my paraphrasing
that sometimes that is forgotten. It is important factor in writing academic texts to avoid
commiting plagiarism. It should be important that the main idea of the texts are not change
from the original in this part my vocabulary is enhance by thinking synonym and other words to
paraphrase text because in paraphrasing it is should be seems that in your own words. Quoting,
including name of author, date and year is also in significant in paraphrasing to not to claim
one's quote and article. This quoting I used this when researching for thesis to cited the
author/s name and his books, date and year.
