QC Responsibilities at Site/Shop

Before Fit up
1. Identify material (ASTM/ASME CLASS), size, thick etc.
2. Identify material class as per Isometric drawing
3. Check the calibrated equipment (welding machine/quiver, high frequency (one
month validity)).
4. Check the quiver are hot and kept temperature 80-100c
5. Check the electrode are vacuum pack/ backed electrode
6. Check the fit up root gap/hi-lo are within acceptable limit as per WPS and
specification
7. Be sure corresponding WPS are available at site
8. Ensure the type at electrode as per WPS, are available at work location
9. Ensure the fit up are done as per drawing and material code as per drawing.
10. Proper welding book are provided and pipe
11. Drawing no or line no are marked on near by the joint
12. Be sure weld matrix box are marked on near the joint
13. Ensure the qualified welder are available to weld joint
During Welding
1. Check quiver are hot and kept are required temperature
2. Welding boot are covered and no air passage for welding joint
3. Parameter should check and confirm as per WPS
After welding
1. Joint are properly cleared for visual acceptance
2. Ensure welder no are marked on joint
3. Date of weld are marked on matrix
4. Prepare required information for preparing visual report from matrix box and
drawing no.
