ABSTRACT

Research has been carried out on a preliminary study of the manufacture of fatty acid
methyl esters through the transsterification process. Transesterification using 1M H2SO4
catalyst. The reaction between cooking oil and methanol at a volume ratio of 1:3; 1:6 and
1:9 v/v for an interval of ± 24 hours. The results of the analysis by gas chromatography on
the biodiesel content of the transesterification results obtained the highest levels in a ratio
of 1: 6, namely 35.68% with a content of 1.48% monodiglycerides, 6.76% diglycerides,
and triglycerides.
2.51%, a ratio of 1: 3 obtained biodiesel content of 21.12% with a monoglyceride content
of 2.20%, diglycerides 11.97%, triglycerides 11.97% and for a ratio of 1: 9 obtained a
biodiesel content of 18.50% with a content of monoglycerides 2.66%, diglycerides
11.97%, triglycerides 17.48%.
