ENGLISH: SPEECH

(Open a wrapper with candy, eat the candy, but stop after crumbling the wrapper)
What? Oh right, it’s rude to just throw something as small as this anywhere. [Awkward Laugh]
(Crumpling away plastic)
Sure, it’s quite impolite to litter wherever you go, but doesn’t everyone usually ignore the consequences
until it suddenly hits you like a train?
Say you left a crumpled piece of paper on your desk and the next day it’s turned into an actual mess.
You’d ask, “Where did this mess come from, wasn’t it just a little piece of paper the other day?”
(Short Pause before continuing)
See? Everyone’s been in similar situations, so we can all relate!
So now you might be wondering where I’m going with this, well, let’s start with the main point:
Everything big comes from something small.
Like how one big corporation comes from a small business, or how a big tree can come from just one
tiny sapling, and we always happen to notice them when they’re finally big and in our faces.
That being said, it’s ironic how you instantly noticed this piece of plastic, isn’t it?
(Bring plastic out of pocket and present it)
You noticed this tiny candy wrapper, so what’s stopping you from noticing the bigger problems in our
community? The trash littered around the beaches, piles of garbage bags in corners where you can see,
and the smoke coming from the many cars stuck in traffic?
How long are we going to ignore these problems? Until we see dead fish floating to the shore, and the
stench of garbage and smoke polluting the clean air?
We can make a change. If we all work together, we can all stop these problems before it’s too late.
(Fold plastic wrapper neatly into smaller and put it in front pocket)
So, what do you say?
Are you ready to create something big?
(Bow and exit the scene)
