1 INTRODUCTION
Before proceeding with the instructions for installing the iX Gateway computer, powered by Dover
Fueling Solutions, the Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) must be installed and working properly.
If underground ethernet cables have been routed from the store to the CATs then a 24 or 48 port
switch can be used. See the example in Figure 1-1. Recommendations are provided in the
dispenser installation manual for installing underground Ethernet cables to the dispensers.
However, if there are no underground ethernet cables from the store to the CATs, or additional
underground ethernet cables cannot be added, then the Wayne Connect™ IP-485® Network
Solution is another method of providing TCP/IP communications to the dispensers. See the example
in Figure 1-2. These devices will already be configured with a generic setup that can be used for
many site configurations.
The iX Gateway computer is available on the following hardware platforms:
 Fusion V2 hardware platform: Refer to Section 4 on page 31 for installation instructions.
 Diebold Nixdorf BEETLE M-II plus hardware platform: Refer to Section 5 on page 39 for
installation instructions.
 DFS edge device: Refer to the DFS Edge Device Installation manual (P/N WU018991) for
installation instructions.

NOTE: DFS edge devices do not include the AC power cable, which MUST be ordered separately! See
DFS Edge Device Installation manual (P/N WU018991) for part numbers and more information.

NOTE: If replacing an existing iX Gateway computer, refer to Section 7.1 on page 48 for instructions to
backup the existing configuration, which can then be restored instead of manually configuring
the new iX Gateway computer.

NOTE: The iX Gateway computer has a LAN (local) IP address for communication with the iX CATs in
the dispensers. The local IP is the 192.168.2.51 default unless otherwise directed by customer.

NOTE: The ASO must contact the customer in order to determine the required network configuration
for DFS-provided equipment. The ASO may also need to contact the customer IT representative
or Managed Network Service Provider (MNSP) to obtain the following required information.

 Designated network port(s) on the station network equipment for device connection.
 Addressing scheme; DHCP, or if static IP addressing is used:
• Required host and/or domain names
• IP address(es), and static ranges for the local network
• Subnet mask
• Default gateway
• Primary and secondary DNS IP addresses

2 DLINK DSR-150 ROUTER CONFIGURATION
The 8-Port Router/Switch (DLink DSR-150) provided by DFS should come pre-configured with
many of the necessary settings, and it should just be a matter of setting the correct site-specific
network address.
Perform the procedure below to install and configure the 8-Port router. The router should have
already been connected to power and to the necessary Ethernet cabling.

2.1 iX Gateway Computer Connections

Refer to Figure 1-1 or Figure 1-2 depending on your network configuration.
1. Plug one end of an Ethernet (CAT5) cable into the site's existing DSL router, broadband
modem, or WAN router, then plug the other end of the cable into the WAN port on the DLink
Router DSR-150.
2. Plug one end of an Ethernet (CAT5) cable into the ethernet port of the Wayne Connect™ IP-
485® Network Solution or port 24 of the 48 port switch, then plug the other end of the cable into
Port 3 of the DLink Router DSR-150.
3. Plug one end of an Ethernet (CAT 5) cable into Port 1 on the DLink Router DSR-150, then plug
the other end of the cable into the Ethernet Port of the iX Gateway computer.

2.2 D-Link Router Configuration

NOTE: If the DFS-provided D-Link router is not used and the customer configures the site using their
own network topology, then the customer would need to provide locations for connecting the
network cable from the Gateway (and Wayne Connect if using). The IP addresses for both the
Gateway and all the fueling points would also need to be provided.

1. From your laptop, configure your Network Adapter’s TCP/IP to a static IP Address of
192.168.2.55 with a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0.

NOTE: The 192.168.2.55 address that you are assigning to your laptop is an unused IP address on the
same subnet as the iX Gateway computer. If you need to use an address other than 192.168.2.55
you are free to do so, as long as the first three octets remain the same and the address you
select will not interfere with any other devices on the network.

plywood as a mounting surface. Proceed as follows:

1. Locate wall studs and measure span. Compare to cabinet mounting hole dimensions to
determine whether construction allows you to locate cabinet with mounting tabs/holes
positioned over wall studs. If stud position is acceptable, mounting surface preparation is
complete. If not proceed with the next step.
2. Provide a cabinet mounting surface at the desired location by installing a board(s) or plywood
plate secured to wall studs by recommended fasteners. Use #8 or larger screws of sufficient
length to penetrate studs 1/2” or more.

Cabinet Mounting on Masonry Construction

Mount the cabinet directly to supporting structure with wall anchors and screws or lag bolts.
Proceed as follows:

1. Procure sufficient quantity of masonry anchor/fastener combination that provides a #6 screw

or bolt that will extend 1/2” or more into the wall anchor.
2. Place cabinet at planned mounting position and mark surface at cabinet mounting tabs (or
holes). These are locations for anchors.
3. Using a drill with masonry bit, drill recommended size hole for anchors and insert anchors.
4. Position cabinet on mounting surface. Insert fasteners through mounting tabs/holes into
anchors and tighten.
