The pie charts indicate the measurement of sales from online shopping in 4
retail sectors in New Zealand for the period of 10 years, starting form 2003 to
2013.

If observed as a whole, it can be seen that several sectors experienced a

significant change in the percentage of sales throughout the year.

The base of the pie chart 2003, where the highest sales percentage was owned
by the travel sector with a total percentage of 36%, so it can be concluded that
the travel sector dominated all other sectors that year. After that, the clothes
sector was followed by 24%. in 2013 where both experienced a significant
decline, which decreased by almost 10%, the opposite occurred in two other
sectors, namely the books sector and the film/music sector, in 2013 sales from
the book sector were 22%, which means an increase of 3% from the number of
percentages in 2003, while the film/music sector got only 21% in 2003 but
surprisingly it could increase by 12% in 2013 to become 33%, the percentage of
film/music in 2013 made it the sector with the highest sales.

In this era, technology is widely used to track what people say and do. For example, tracking
via cell phones and security cameras. There are many instances where people are not aware
this tracking is happening.

In this modern life, technology will be more sophisticated. For example, when people want to
send messages, all they need is electronic devices such as cell phones and the internet.
Nevertheless, behind all the conveniences provided by technology there is an impact that
people may not realize. I hope technology is like a double-edged sword because it can have
both positive and negative effects at the same time. The negative impact, as many people talk
about and fear, is monitoring other people which can clearly violate one's privacy and
indirectly includes cybercrime.

Let's first look at the negative impact. For example, people can use the obtained monitoring
data to extort money such as Automated Teller Machine scams, credit card fraud, and
personal image leaks on the internet which damage the reputation of the individual
concerned. Therefore, many people panic and worry for fear of becoming the next
cybercrime target.

On the other hand, technological developments also bring many positive impacts. A simple
example that is often found in many places is the installation of security cameras with the aim
of preventing crime and making it easier for security forces to handle it. Furthermore,
technology can be used to track children who are sometimes difficult to supervise. When
outside the home, it is easier for parents to monitor their children with a smartphone or
smartwatch equipped with a tracking application.
In conclusion, the advantages of monitoring people through technology outweigh the
disadvantages. However, security procedures need to be taken to ensure that there is no
danger to people's privacy.
