The Globalization of World Politics, provides the most comprehensive coverage of the key theories and

The book addresses the evolution of the discipline of international relations (IR) over the past century by
analyzing our changing understandings of order in the modern world. It also considers the impact of
predominant historic events on the evolution of IR, including the treaties of 1648, Europe’s imperial
expansion, the First World War and the ongoing influence of globalization. Further, it introduces us to a
range of theoretical tools that will help us to analyze the behavior of global actors and the nature of
international systems. Withal, it defines and talk about some essential concepts within the discipline,
which includes war, peace, the state and power which is supplementary in critically assessing challenges
facing contemporary global society, including security, international governance and the rise of East
Asian actors.

Therefore, upon completing the entire chapter, I was able to understand the evolution of international
relations as an academic discipline and able to expound the relevance of key terms in international
relations. In line with this, I was able to fathom the strengths and weaknesses of IR’s various theoretical
approaches and comprehend contemporary and historic global events from a variety of theoretical
viewpoints.
