20002: SOCIAL DIMENSIONS OF EDUCATION

Whenever people hear that I am a Political Science Student, they briskly

conclude that I want to be a lawyer. They assume that I study laws or I want
to be a politician in the future. What they don’t know is the fact that there’s a
deep explanation beyond that.

Political Science, just like the book above receives little appreciation and
is prone to various misconceptions and criticisms. I didn’t understand it at first
but as I dive deep and appreciate it as separate field, I found myself learning
what I always wanted. More so, I want solace. I yearn to sit tight in my chair
in peace. I desire to walk the streets in amity. I thirst for a utopia. And while I
do realize that a heaven will not be on Earth, the definition of utopia (near
perfect) does not hinder me from trying to achieve such.

So I chose Political Science because it tells us what to do on situations of

conflicting interests. It does not tell us how to win but how to get the most out
of the situation in order for us to give back to the people we value. It tells us
when we're right and when we're wrong. It tells us why we have to and why we
shouldn't. It shows an image transcending winning and seeing beyond the small
battles - solving the war.
