Define the following term:

1. Impressionism
- Impressionism was a radical art movement that began in the late 1800s, centered
primarily around Parisian painters. Impressionists rebelled against classical subject
matter and embraced modernity, desiring to create works that reflected the world in
which they lived.

2. Post-impressionism
- Post-Impressionism is an art movement that developed in the 1890s. It is characterized
by a subjective approach to painting, as artists opted to evoke emotion rather than
realism in their work.

3. Expressionism
- Expressionism is a modernist movement, initially in poetry and painting, originating in
Northern Europe which was particularly influential at the beginning of the twentieth
century.

4. Surrealism

-Surrealism was an artistic and literary movement. It proposed that the Enlightenment
the influential 17th and 18th century intellectual movement that championed reason and
individualism—had suppressed the superior qualities of the irrational, unconscious mind.
